There would have been a lot more if I had let the wife put off a surgery she needs after we got back from the rally.

Well, dang it (I wanted to say something else, but...)
My wife (Boss Monkey) just made the decision to not go out to Maine for the 2025 USCA National Sidecar Rally,Β which means I have a 7,000 miles round-trip all alone...Western Washington to CentralΒ Maine and back.Β
Now to decide, drive my BattleWing Galactica Sidecar rig out to Maine, and back...or haul it on my BearTrack trailer behind my Subaru Outback...to Maine and back.Β
I have done 1,000s of these trips alone, always riding the bike, or driving the sidecar rig,Β and just tired of that long of a trip alone.
I will be there....have no doubt....but need to decide on driving the sidecar rig,Β or trailering it.
Whoa is me. Β

Sadness.Β Maybe she will change her mind again (women are truly entitled to do so) and you'll get to have companionship!
Illegitemi non carborundum est!

@miles-ladue sorry to hear.Β I prefer to have my sidekick along as well, but if I were going with or without her it would not keep me from riding.Β Easy for me to say, being 15 minutes from the rally site, ha!!Β Maybe you can put the word out, plan stops along the way to pick up other riders as you cross America and show up in caravan fashion with you as leader of the pack!!

Not so good arrangement is solo.
May as well disconnect the chair and fly low.
Hopefully you can get reasonable company for the trip.
Hard to beat the missus though.
Probably should be careful how I phrase that!

Reminds me of the line from the movie, The Quiet Man,Β where John Wayne was pulling Maureen O'Hara along, at a quick step, and most of the towns people were following,Β when one older woman ran up, with a small tree branch in her hand, and said..."Hereβs a stick to beat the lovely lady"

My turn to do the bump. One of my favorite dances. And I canβt dance!!!
How many do we have registered for next month?
I have never seen another Terraplane in person. Β So keeping my hopes up.Β
What I want most out of my first hack rally is to ride other rigs. I have no idea what to compare this to. My only other experience is with a year newer Aspencade and a same Terraplane 40 years ago.Β

Texas Bulldogger, I have seen severalΒ Terraplane sidecars,Β almost bought one attached to a 1976 GoldwingΒ LTD, and I personally knowΒ Craig Vetter.
If you want to experience how other sidecar rigs drive,Β I will offer to you to take my BattleWing Galactica for a drive. 2019 Goldwing w/DCT transmission and Hannigan Dream Sidecar.Β

Will make the same offer with the Screaming Yellow Zonker.Β 👍Β
Just in case you're into German/Ukrainian nostalga.Β 😎Β
Hold my keyboard and watch this! π

The more I learn about the Topsham area, and its rich history, am thinking 3-4 days there is not nearly enough time to really experience it all.Β
Am grateful some of life's most memoriable expeiences come to us in the form of small nuggets.
Come find what nuggets Maine holds for you in June.

@jan-2 History?Β Fort Popham just a stones throw from rally central is one of America's early settlements.Β Several museums in the area regarding Maine's rich maritime history and more.Β The Peary-Mcmillan Museum at Bowdoin College in Brunswick documents the north pole expedition, Joshua Chamberlain Museum is also in Brunswick if there are any civil war buffs in the group.Β The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath documents the maritime and shipbuilding history of the region for centuries, Rockland houses the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Maine Lighthouse Museum and one I have not been to but was recently featured on a loal TV channel, the Sail Power and Steam Museum.Β Prefer to spend your time just riding instead of riding to and from?Β There are several beautiful country roads just slightly inland or take a full day ride to the mountains or lakes regions, spend a little extra time to go Down East and explore Acadia National Park and beyond.Β Each local coastal peninsula offers it's own little surprise around every bend; lighthouses, lobster shacks, quaint fishing villages and more.Β For those who have not registered what are you waiting for??
