Leaving...On A Jet Plane
Sorry to hear about the rough start but glad it is working out better now. That is a nice looking rig
It is forecast to be a bit cooler today, only 100 today, 104 yesterday, 107 the day before in our part of the valley. Somewhat of a more mild summer this year really. Good travels.
Edit: Beware, it's tomato harvest time here, so slippery tomato slime is heavy at on and off ramps right now.
Miles (@miles-ladue) what made you decide on I-5 over Highway 1/101?
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

Scott, to get home quicker. Hwy 1 and 101 are scenic, and cooler, but tourist traffic can be a nightmare.
This trip wasn't about sightseeing....the job was to buy the sidecar rig, and get home, where it's not 107 degrees.

Chris, apparently you don't receive notifications when someone sends you a Private Message.
I sent you one last week, asking if we could meet in Woodland. No answer from you, so.....rather than stand on every street corner waiting for you to see a sidecar rig parked, whilst I melted in the SUN...I skedaddle up the Interstate.
Dang it 😕

Today was 567 miles, in 10.5 hours.
It was nice being On The Road at 5:16 am, but still hit 107 degrees today....and I hate heat.
I survived by pulling my infamous ice bag trick....and that saved me.
I also pulled another rabbit out of the hat, by calling Jay at RDL seats...Russell Day Long seats...and asking if they had a seat pad, an AirHawk, a Gel pad, anything like that that they took off a customer bike, so I can be slightly more comfortable on the last 525 miles.
Got to their shop in Shasta Lake City, and they made me a gel pad, sewn with black vinyl on one side, and Sunbrella fabric on the other side.
All FREE....maybe it pays to have had them make 19 custom seats for me, since 1989.
This gel pad...XXL size....really helps, especially when I am so used to using their RDL seats. The OEM vinyl seat on a Burgman 650 isn't comfortable on long days in the saddle, when temperatures are 107 degrees out.

Glad you had a safe trip Miles. So do you like the new outfit after a few miles up the road?

Good to see safe and speedy travel so far.
Not fan of extreme heat myself.
Or uncomfortable seating.

At that much time on the bike, the only way it could have been worse is if it was a BMW stock seat.

Steve, and MY dawg, Cy....I like it better than the one we used to own, but I believe the biggest difference is that the former DMC sidecar company did the installation of the sidecar to our 2015 Burgman 650, and it never felt quite right.
This 2018 Burgman 650 and Hannigan classic sidecar was all put together by the Seller, Ray Anderson, and he has always assembled all of his sidecar rigs, including a Goldwing 1500 with Hannigan ASTRO 2+2, a Victory Vision with Hannigan GT sidecar, and a few others.
This rig handles much better.

Agreed, apparently not. While I have heard of PM's, I'm not sure if my device is equipped with that feature. I'll ask the Boss this weekend.Posted by: @miles-laduePosted by: @not-bobIt is forecast to be a bit cooler today, only 100 today, 104 yesterday, 107 the day before in our part of the valley.
