What Is It About Your Rig That Makes It So Awesome?

Oh no, Tim.....it wasn't a Starbucks was it ?
I mean, you rig isn't a BMW R1200GS, so it won't lead you to every Starbucks in Colorado.

KTMs are Beans and Brews kind of rigs. 🤩
Give 'er the beans, and have a few brews at the end of the day. 😎

For me, I like the rig I have because its 25 years old and it has been a very good Harley. The 2001 Sportster I have now, was my oldest son's 1st Harley he purchased new. He rode it until 2004 and purchased him a 2004 Harley Road King. I purchesd the bike from my son to keep it in the family. I have rode motorcycles going on 59 years. I have always owned the big touring bikes Harley made. My last big Harley was a 2006 Ultra. I loved the bike. My wife and I rode it everywhere. Canada, Sturgis, Key West, The Outer Banks, all of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Milwaukee and many other places. I ran into a guy that lives in Tennessee that just had to have it. He would call me 2 and 3 times a week for over a month. So, my wife and I started thinking about a Harley Tri-Glide trike. In 2023, I put in an order for a 2024 model. About, 2 weeks after I placed the order, I got to thinking. I wanted to do something different. I have the 2001 Sportster sitting in my shop so, why not? I called my good friend Kent Silk, owner of Texas Sidecar Company in Teague, TX..
We put a deal together and I canceled the order on the trike. Going with a Ranger sidecar, I could save $38,000.00. When my son had the Sportster, we went through the engine. With Weisco Pistons and Andrew N4 Cams. Punched out the engine to 74 Cubic Inches and ported and polished the heads. It dynoed at 93 horsepower and 88 ft. pounds of torque. So, it has the power to pull the Ranger. Yes, riding is definitely different than what my wife and I had. No stereo, cruise control, saddlebags or tourpack. It's back to the basics like it was when I was 14 and started riding. I'm 74 and, I guess, I have come full circle? Anyway, my wife and I enjoy it. I really thank Kent Silk and Texas Sidecar Company for putting together our present ride. Kent is a great man!

Beautiful rig. Simplicity puts the "ride" back into the enjoyment of riding.
As for music, it seems you've got that covered in spades. Baseline from the exhaust, Mids from the intake trumpet, Highs from the wind. Even Bob Seger would be envious of a band like that! 😎

Thank you for your comment. That is a good way of looking at it. Ride Free!
Well, just look at her man! What's not awesome about matching colors (purely coincidence) it's a very rare Bender JM, and it get tons of attention.
I was unsure after the first phone call with Mike that I was doing the right thing. I mean, I had a perfectly good sidecar that I had put a lot of effort into and that was perfectly capable of doing every thing I wanted it to do. Still I had a vision and I had bought the new bike to put a sidecar on so I wrote the cheque and persisted. The result, maybe not for everyone but for me it is one of those machines that as you walk away and you turn back to have that second look. If that happens to you then you have the perfect rig for you
Hmmm... haven't got there yet.

OK there's a local guy drives an EH Holden coming to look at the Fiat 509 today.
Will get the beastie out of its cocoon and wash the recent storm dust of it.
Air the tires.
Fuel the tank.
Oil the sump.
Water the radiator.
And crank the engine.
Probably start it before he gets here.
