Rating calculation

Just clicked on my member (participant) page.
How is the "rating" on that page calculated?
At the risk of opening up for ribbing, what does my rating mean?
Am I somehow diminished by it? (Ok, now I've wondered into the weeds.)

Glad you asked!! Here is some info from the forum application documentation.
"The forum has a built-in member reputation system based on points a user gets when he/she creates new topics, posts, or when they get likes or dislikes. This system grants Rating Titles and Rating Badges."
I looked at the settings and when I converted to this new forum application (in May 2024) I did not enable the Rating Titles and Badges. I have enabled them now. We now have classes of users! So let the competition and snarky remarks begin!
Here is the rating system as it is currently defined.
Here is how points are assigned.
So that's how they work! I can turn off either of the two features independently: titles or badges. Should I keep them enabled?

In some quick browsing around I'm not sure quite how this figures the rating. I see that Drew has 247 posts (as of this date) but his rating is level 5 "Reputable Member" which means he should have over 500 posts or points. I also notice that SwampFox has 1900 posts/points but has no rating at all.
So one thing I suspect is the rating system counts posts/points since the application started recording them, not the total posts! Our forums go back almost 20 years and we have over 85,000 posts in total. We had the old forum application migrated to this new application so we retained all the old posts, but they may not be counted. More research needed...

How does the system award points? I assume it's a combination of started threads, posts and "likes"? Starting a thread = 5, likes = 2, etc?
Illegitemi non carborundum est!

This is AWESOME.
All my life I've been told I have no class. Now I can print out the page that shows I do.
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

That wasn't class clown ...... no not at all... no.

Sorry, I forgot to copy that section of the documentation. The points are awarded 2 points for a new topic, 1 point for a post/reply, and .5 for a like. I have updated my original post.
