No my sister was never bitten by a moose. She was however bitten by a very large Turtle at Doc's Harley. Those of you that know the place he has a lot of strange things there. The huge turtles use to walk around in a part of the building .

Moose, Turtles, Dogs.  It's an Animal Planet kind of place!  🤩 👍

While at the Joyce Canfield Rally Blackstone Labs sent the used oil test report.  What impressed me is the remaining oil life.  A bit over 6,700 miles of hard use (slow speed technical off road in high temps, as well as 1,500 miles of high speed/high load against the winds coming back across the plains, and through the Rocky Mountains).  I'm not an oil snob, but if the next test comes out this well, I'll stick with the Motul oil change kit from Beemer Boneyard. 👍

I'll need to keep an eye on the copper content.  That is a high number.  Otherwise a very healthy report. 🙂  Bike has about 4,500 miles since the last change, so I'll have a new report done at this oil change service.

Ahhh....a bit over 6,700 miles on that last oil ?  WhatsamattaU ?

And, you ARE an oil snob, if you are using the Motul oil change kit from Boner Beemyard.

I change my Mobil 1 automotive oil (in all my vehicles...cars and motorcycles) every 5,000 miles. And my engines don't need to be completely rebuilt every 50k to 75k miles.

So, again...WhatsamattaU ?

Shocked

Ya think?  🤣

Yes, 6,700 miles is a couple thousand over what is normally done on a motorcycle that sees extreme duty.  Short story;  The plan was to have a BMW dealer do an oil change after the National Rally in Iuka.  Then an emergency came up that required getting back to Utah post haste.  Hence the extended mileage.

The oil change kit was included with the bike when bought.  The previous owner has a garage full of BMWs with lots of miles, and no issues.  Figured that's a good enough recommendation.  If the oil meets or exceeds the OEM requirements stamp it done.

My four wheeled daily use vehicles get serviced at the respective dealer when the dash says it's time.  I don't ask what they use, but try and remember to ask they use the better of what they offer, if there is a choice.  Both are direct injection V8s, so deposits on the valves is a concern.  Hence why they are serviced at their respective dealerships.

Will be interesting to see how this next report comes out.  Very similar use case to previous, but with a bit over 2,000 less miles.  Just ordered the oil change kit. It will probably be another month before the results are available, and they can be posted here.

I think it's awesome you're running oil tests/reports.  Very German, very scientific, very much approved by BMW riders everywhere.

Science.  It's more than a feeling.

You'd think it could be done at the local coffee kiosk ride through window! 😉

Glow in the dark stickers are for more than just Cracker Jacks!

A while back a buddy printed out some BMW M series colored decals on 3M reflective automotive wrap for the bike.  I kept forgetting to get a picture at night under flash (emulating headlights).  Ended up using the decals on the sidecar, and the rear of the panniers.  The left side pannier also has a reflective American flag on the side for a bit more visibility.

Daylight views:

Sidecar M Stripe Installed
Pannier M Stripes
Raptor Hunting sign

Night views:

Glow in the dark Sidecar
Glow in the Dark Rear
Glow in the dark Panniers

Pretty happy with how bright they light up.  Need to get the OEM left fork reflector, and make some yellow covers for the aux lighting.  😎

What he said.  Bmw/ural rigs are the best looking rigs out there and yours is particularly sharp.

I liked the stickers before but like them even more now!

I briefly considered yellow for my rig because yellow and orange are my fav colors for bikes but:

A. Didn't find a yellow bike

B. Didn't want everyone saying I was copying you.

Don't tell anyone else Drew, I'm not a color snob.  But since it is so darned yellow, might as well have fun with it.   So when you see a comment about Yellow being the awesome-ist in the whole world it is totally tongue-in-cheek.  Although I do think it fits the extroverted idea of sidecars in general. 😎

Mum's the word.  Can't let the secret out.  😉

In 2018-19 the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport came out with what to me is the most stunning paint/graphics of any bike ever.  Really stole my heart, and I'm seriously thinking the next adventure rig will be a newer Africa Twin repainted in that graphic layout with an up-sized tub, like what Claude Stanley made.  Norton(Kel)'s rig is a pretty awesome 1150 GS Claude Stanley built.

My '18 Africa Twin (sold because GF said I couldn't park it in the bedroom, unless I wanted to sleep in the garage 😥):

Quick follow-up on the radiator screen experiment.  3,400 miles through bugsville U.S.A.  Big bugs, little bugs, juicy bugs, dry bugs.  The experiment criteria for bug splatter was definitely fulfilled.

Screen did a great job. The screen is not a tight fit around the fender trough.  Just a bit of small bug matter made it into the radiator, and the radiator washed out very easily (rear to front with water).  Did not notice an increase in engine temperature.   Screen was easy to remove and clean.  Overall I'm very happy with the outcome.

Trimmed it up and painted the poly-carbonate bar so it would look a bit less amateurish.  It will now be a permanent upgrade.  😎

Rough version installed for test.

Park Place

trimmed up and painted for final version:

Introducing the newest compliment to SYZ.  A "monkey in training".  Black Jack Miles of Smiles (Miles for short).

Miles Chariot Inspection

Based on the look, it seems her Royal Chariot may have passed an initial "ownership inspection".

She comes from a breeder focused on putting the "hunt" back into show quality Gordon Setters.  Her lineage is European where show dogs have hunt titles first, confirmation second.  Both parents have hunt & show titles.  Earlier litters have multiple champions in field and show.

Black Jack Kennels out of Cannon Falls, MN.  https://www.blackjackgordonsetters.com/   Both Sandy & Joe are avid upland game hunters, and got "bit by the Gordon bug" after a trip to Scotland for an upland game hunt, and a trip to Gordon Castle for the "Save our Gordon Setter" event ( https://www.facebook.com/GordonCastleEstate/posts/help-us-save-the-gordon-setter-did-you-know-that-our-beloved-gordon-setter-is-at/2216784821718150/ .  They are super great people, and it is a real pleasure to work with them.

Her name comes from reading about the breed temperament.  Immediately reminded me of our FlyingMonkeys, Miles @miles-ladue .  Highly intelligent, catches on extremely fast, Doesn't forget a lesson, doesn't suffer fools, if the trainer can't keep up will move on without the trainer, etc..

Along with hunt training, Miss Miles will be trained as a volunteer therapy dog, which will bring "miles of smiles" to a lot of people who can use a good heart felt smile (the real reason for her name).  She will be the third volunteer Therapy partner I've had the good fortune to train and work with.

Meantime we just have to survive puppy-hood.  There is a reason babies and puppies are cute as heck.  Amazed

 👍 I like it!

The scary part is I'd have to go to Cornell and get a PhD in Ornithology just to try and keep up.  Probably not happening in this lifetime.  😉

Next semester we are going to Gun Dog University though.  https://www.gduniversity.com/   I can handle obedience training to get through the AKC CGC title, but have never trained a gun dog.  Mr.s Adele (Avatar picture) came to me already field trained. Hoping Miss Miles has the interest to get her AKC & NAVHDA hunt/field titles. Then we'll consider conformation (show ring).  She's already doing very well at retrieve, and shows plenty of prey and food drive. 😀

Next feature to add is a shotgun scabbard on the sidecar.  SYZ has already proven itself capable of getting into some pretty remote locations for hunting.  clap
