I have a 2005 Kawasaki Concours C10 and am pulling a Hannigan sidecar. The front end has been modified with a SteeRite fork conversion for more rake and better steering. I'd like to run a car tire on the rear. I may even consider a car tire on front, but want to do the rear first. I can find nothing online about how to do this. Do any of you know of any C10 riders running a car tire or know where I can find the information to do so?

I'm somewhat surprised FM didn't chime in right away.  First question - what is the rim diameter and width on the rear?  That will greatly affect the options for adding a car tire on the rear.

Thane, I  didn't  chime in because I am waiting for  Floyd to tell us he got his engine back together,  and running.

No sense worrying about a car tire on the rear wheel,  if the engine is still in pieces.

I just got back in town late Friday night after being gone two weeks. I'm busy every day this week, but trying to do at least a little bit every day on getting the engine back together. I'm a slow and methodical wrench turner, so it may be awhile.

I remember reading that there is one of the rim diameters which doesn't convert properly between motorcycle and car.  The car tire diameter is slightly smaller than motorcycle diameter, and can damage the bead structure during install.   Might want to check on that part first.   Maybe someone here will know, and chime in.

Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

Silly Scott.... that would be the 15" wheels.

His Concourse 1000 has a 16" rear wheel, and can easily accept a 175/70-16 or up to a 185/70-16.

@scott-h The 15" motorcycle rims are slightly larger than  the 15"automobile tires and do not lend themselves to darksiding without machining from what I remember of the commentary online  over the years.

You mean like this drawing? I had my Vmax rear wheel machined just like this!

15 wheel

Yes, a 16" wheel and as best as I can measure with the tire on, it is 4-1/4" wide. I'm currently running a 160/80-16 motorcycle tire.

So, FlyingMonkeys, are you saying a 175/70-16 or a 185/70-16 will fit on my stock Kawasaki 16" wheel without any altering the wheel? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 175/70 would be about 1/2" wider than my current tire and the 185/70 just shy of 1" wider than my current one. Do you know if that difference in width would interfere anywhere on the frame or driveshaft?

Time to see if you can run a finger between tire and swing arm. If you can then a half inch extra is no problem.

I'm running a 165/45/16 on the back of my Guzzi.

The low profile for gearing reduction.

Original was a 150/80/16.

Floyd, I  know for sure that the 175/70-16 will fit on your rear wheel,  and inside your  swingarm space. That's only 1/4" more in width on each side of the current tire.

You will need to check to see how much space you have on each side of your current tire, to see IF a 185/70-16 will fit, as it takes 1/2" wider on each side of the tire.

A few days ago @Brstr posted that he's running a 165/45-16 on his Guzzi. If I can find one that size it should also fit my wheel, right?

Yes have a 165/45/16 on my guzzi.

The low profile is for a gearing change as the Guzzi has a high 1st gear and would have had clutch issues ongoing.

Availability now?

Not so good.

It be a case of what you can find.

165? 175? Not a big deal either way.

I would  NOT  put a 45 profile tire on the rear wheel of your  Concourse 1000. That is too low of a sidewall profile for your needs.

Find a 175/70-16......or a 175/60-16......but nothing  lower profile.
