The Great Motorcycle Museum in Neckarsulm, Germany

During my current travels around Europe,Β and focusing in on Heidelberg,Β Germany where we awaited the arrival of our Euro-Wing Sidecar rig,Β we found that not far from Heidelberg is the hometown of NSU motorcycles,Β and a great museum dedicated to all things related to motorcycles, in the small town of Neckarsulm, Germany.Β
In fact,Β the name of the NSU motorcycles is basically the abbreviation of this town...NeckarSUlm...or Neckarsulm.
ThisΒ museum is DEMOMU.DE, or...Deutsches Zweirad-Β Und NSU Museum Neckarsulm
Boss Monkey and IΒ visited the museum this morning,Β very few visitors on May 1st, as itβs May Day in Germany,Β so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.Β
The highlight of the museum right now is...Made in England...British Beauties.
There are over 400 "brands " of motorcycles,Β and more than 1200 models of motorcycles on display in the museum.Β
Whilst my very first "big" bike was a brand new 1974 Norton 850 Commando, purchased when I was 19 years old in late 1973, and I have owned several British bikes over the years,Β it was enlightening and entertaining to see brands I had never heard of before.Β
Took 37 pictures,Β so at least 31.4159 of them will be good..
Pictures,Β please...

You have absolutely outdone your self good Sir!Β Two paws way, way up! 🤩 🍻Β
The bikes that caught my interest were the two with the radial engines built into the front wheels, and the bikes with exploration pedigree.Β Would be epic to know the whole story on those.Β Not to mention the backstories on design and engineering to create all these different designs.
I once read about a lady (American) who in the early-ish 19th century traveled the length of South America on a motorcycle.Β What a story that was!Β Very inspiring.Β 😍Β
There is a little "explorer" in all of us.Β Pretty epic to follow along on your exploits. 👍Β

Hold my keyboard and watch this! π

After fighting in Europe during WWII, my father stayed in Germany as part of the occupation forces. Β My mother and two older brothers joined him in 1946. Β They were assigned quarters in Wurzburg that had been an SS Colonel's. Β The Colonel was no longer among the living and the Army booted his wife out of the house. Β In the garage was a Mercedes Benz and a NSU motorcycle. Β The Army soon came and collected the Merc to be used was a staff car for a General officer, but my father kept the NSU and used it to get back and forth to work of three years. Β
During my first assignment to W.Germany we lived in Sandhausen, a village outside of Heidelberg. Β I wasn't aware of the NSU museum, but I wish I had been.Β

Oh, Kevin.....oh oh, Kevin.....IΒ drove through Sandhausen, Germany this morning...on our way to yet another museum. My Boss Monkey is seriously into visiting Zoos, and Museums.Β
On this trip we have visited the Zoos in Antwerp,Β Belgium...then Prague,Β Czech Republic,Β then in Nuremberg,Β Germany,Β and then in Heidelberg,Β Germany.Β
We have visited several museums, like the one posted about above,Β but another one this morning, as all of you were asleep.Β
In the small town of Sinsheim, Germany there is a Technik Museum,Β dedicated primarily to transportation technology for the previous 200 years.
To my enjoyment,Β lots of motorcycles with sidecars attached.Β
THIS is what happens in the rest of the civilized world, whilst you are all sleeping.Β
