smitty901.............Oh, The Humanity !

I shall drink a dram of MacNaughtons Scotch Whisky for all you blokes that have to remove your sidecars just to do maintenance, replace tires, brake pads, etc.

Some of us (we be the wankers) do it the easy way.

Β We have one of those that will lift cars and trucks also. That is a nice setup.

I wanted it in that the bike room it is in . Also plan to replace all the mounting bolts and nuts this time around when reinstalling it.

Really want to go over every inch . Did not want any surprises on this years planned rides.

Here is my way. It makes it easy to check the alignment, service, and clean it.Β

One of my few regrets of retiring and selling the shop.. I didn't figure a way of installing a hoist at home.. Ceiling hight and the size of the shop.. I now do it the old way.. Jack it up and roll around on the floor. Keeps a guy in shape, sort of, well not really, more like finding all those spots that don't move or work any more.. On the body, not the rig LOL.Β

Β Β Β  Cracked welded up good. Added more steel and made it stronger.Β  Started touching up the paint in areas I welded. While it is off I am going to touch up the frame paint. May end up up just painting all of it.

I have used this paint with great results on many frame touch ups.

I gave SYZ a good pat on the seat yesterday and told him he was a good boy.Β  That is pretty much all the yearly maintenance required.Β  😉Β

Next week when it warms up a bit the goal is a good going over.Β  This will be a big year for rides.Β  Starting with the Trans America Trail from Utah to MS for the rally.Β  🤩Β

I do have a question for all of you who work on lifts.Β  With your rigs suspended in the air, how do you "lay down on the job"?Β Β  I'm a big fan of nap time, now that retirement has settled in.Β  😎Β

Hold my keyboard and watch this! πŸ™ƒ

@miles-ladueΒ

I was not going to weld on anything with it attached to the bike. To much of a risk. Been fun riding it with out the sidecar. It will go back on after the 7th.

Touch paint the frame. replace some mounting bolts ect.

Β  So had some time on my hands. With tub off it was quick and easy to pull Caliper and clean it up a bit . Checked pads still good at 33,000 miles.

The pin that secures the pads was rusted. Cleaned that up.

Β Β Β  I want to get a new one but seems Bremo does not offer parts unless you have a year make and model . Well they don't list sidecars of course.

I think there is a KTM bike that use the same pin. No one even list pads by part number.

@smitty901Β

The pads on my sidecar look similar and off a Brembo caliper used by Ducati. Β Search using any of the numbers you can see on the pads.Β

@kevin-huddyΒ

I did nothing . Bremo has no support for motorcycle pads. I have a spare set coming from Hannigan. Ok for a while yet

The Ducati and KTM use different part numbers but maybe the same.

Β  Caliper all put back together and back on. Will put ECC and shock back on frame to night. Flip it over quick coat on the other side Let itΒ  cure 2 days then put Tub back on.
