TRAIN HORNS

I'm considering putting an air compressor in the trunk of my Savage, and the trumpets underneath the sidecar. I have not heard of anyone else installing train horns on a sidecar rig and am wondering why not. I know they are childish, but I never grew up, and they are good fun so why not. Motorcycles in general are just big boys toys anyway
I think this one will fit in the trunk with room to spare.

It's far from the cheapest option available, but it has quality
PLEASE DON'T!!!Β Five years ago, an idiot had one on his pickup and blew it at me as he passed me while I was driving my rig, with my dog in the chair. It scared my dog so much she tried to jump out of the tub at about 45 miles an hour. She was restrained, but did hurt herself in her panic. She was so frieghtened she would never go near the rig again. Isn't driving around on a sidecar rig enough to fulfill your need to call attention to yourself? You don't need to grow up, just grow smarter.Β Β

What fun for one don't mean it's fun for all. The worst part if someone get hurt while you are having, what fun is it to them.

I have RIVCO air horns installed on my outfit. They are loud but scare my inattentive passengers more than encroaching motorist. I don't blast them for fun.

@sidewise, that is a beautiful ST-1100 Sidecar rig. Β

@miles-ladue TY, I find it hard to believe at times, the bike is 31 yo and the sidecar is 23. EZS along with Honda made a fine machine.

Good point @dedsled.
Back in the late 70's, in Nor Cal, a guy had REAL train horns setup on his '78 GoldwingΒ (2nd worse year for Goldwings), and this thing was crazy loud. After awhile most other riders refused to ride along with him, because he enjoyed blasting that thing too often.Β
It was one time too often, because he came up behind a group of other riders.....blasted that real train horns....and one of the riders in the group ahead of him turned around in the saddle....and fired one shot.
That guy with the real train horns never blew those horns again.Β He did hear Gabriel blow his horn as he passed through the pearly gates, as.....the group of riders in front of him were prospects for the Red & White. (Hells Angels)

The reaction by the HA does not surprise me at all.

I'm glad I didn't have a gun when the guy blew his train horns by me. I'd still be in prison.

You would shoot someone because they blew a horn ??Β LOLΒ Β Β Β You must be a delicate wallflower, pmslΒ Β

Β A horn can not hurt anyone.Β Β What if you crashed into someone and killed them because they did not hear your horn ?Β Β ΒPosted by: @2FLTCWhat fun for one don't mean it's fun for all. The worst part if someone get hurt while you are having, what fun is it to them.
@mick-boon: No, not so much a delicate wallflower, just trying to describe how angry I was at someone doing something that hurt my dog. Getting your kicks from blasting an extremely loud horn at someone is stupid and immature. As is name calling. Flying Monkey posted a tale of an Angel prospect doing just that (shooting someone with a train horn). Would you call the HA a delicate wallflower?

You have nobody to blame but yourself for your dog getting hurt, in future train your dog first and avoid putting it in danger.Β Anyone who behaves like you is an incompetent dog owner.
I would never dream of taking my dog out in a sidecar on the road unless it was first proven to be 100% bomb proof.
PSΒ "I'm glad I didn't have aΒ GUNΒ when the guy blew his train horns by meΒ I'd still be in prison."Β Β Β read the thread

My dogs are properly trained and fall into the bomb proof category.Β Β As for your friend, like it or not, butΒ he is without doubt an incompetent dog owner. Nothing unusual about that though, there are many incompetent dog owners, he is just another one.Β That is not being antagonistic , it is being truthful.
PS, I have spent the majority of my life training dogs to work with birds of prey, I know what I'm talking about.

What was the point of your previous postΒ ?
