Time to upgrade my tug
I’d like to change out my tug from a /2 conversion to a R1200R oil head for better performance and longer travel.
The car is a Dnepr that is a direct fit to the /2 frame. Obviously the R would need a subframe to haul the car and possibly other adjustments. My mechanical skills are limited to fluid changes, valve and carb adjustments and adding useless farkals, etc. So basic maintenance tasks. I built the current rig which consisted of attaching the car to existing points on the bike, adding wiring, adding a steering damper and adjusting the Earle’s forks for more trail. And some minor tweaks for comfort.
What I’m looking for is someone who would be willing to do the engineering and build to attach this car to my R1200.
I’m in north central Ohio and don’t mind hauling the components a reasonable distance to have this done.
Any help/suggestion of someone who would take on this project with me would be greatly appreciated.

Ohio does seem to be a hotspot of sidecar fabrication. Two come to mind: Claude Stanley (Freedom Sidecars) and of course, Hannigan in Murray Kentucky.

Homer, the assistance you seek is in Eugene, Oregon.
Take either Interstate 90, or Interstate 80, and go due West.
Frankly, all BS aside, Chuck Loftin in Eugene is THEE Man for this job.
Problem....he is 2500 miles West of you, and he is all booked up for the rest of the year.

Sounds like a great combination.
I have a Dnepr attached to an R1100 GS. That is a lot of fun.
Your 1200 with all the extra power should be even more fun.
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃
Thanks all for your replies. Eugene is definitely out there.
Does anyone have contact info for Stanley they can share?
mucho gracias

Claude Stanley sold Freedom Sidecars a while ago and I believe is currently still recovering from a gnarly accident. But Freedom is still there with the guys who worked for Claude.
