The cooing sound they make is adorable. Couple that with the giant, soft eyes, you have unbearable amounts of seratonin release and you’ll never feel sad again.

Though now you would keep it from salted winter road.
No point damaging what is now quite the classic .
I found this commercial from 1958 with the new high performance engines.
There's a shot of one car sitting on 80mph.
The telling point at the time though was keeping it up for 25k miles.

Had two different ones in the 70's.
He had all the performance options.
Including a 5 speed gearbox.
Quite the following and parts availability in Europe.
They only came with 4 speeds factory.
It moved out sharper than I remember.
And that's the long to go with the short.
Bruce @brstr, you should have parked your 101 year olde Fiat right next to this little green Fiat, to show the comparison in age.
On the 5 speed trans, a local guy that has owned a '58 Morris Minor 1000 Convertible for several years, just picked up 3 Nissan 5 speed transmissions, and they are THEE go to transmission for installing into these Moggies, if you want to convert from an olde 4 speed to a more modern 5 speed, so I am considering doing that this next Winter.
He is a member of the local car club, the T-9-O Quarrymen (our little town was founded upon a sandstone quarry), so I think I might join their club.
I have lived here for 20 years, have owned several older classics in that time, just not big on joining clubs, per se.

The little green bean was a dose of nostalgia and other things.
Morrie's and mods I remember one 50 yrs back that had a twin cam Fiat 1300cc motor and front suspension grafted into it.
The local (nation wide) scene have had all manner of engine transmission swaps.
Though to me originality these days is more fun and enjoyable to a degree.
The series 2 Morris overhead valve engine has a lot of performance potential.
(Well for a little 4 banger)
And can be reliable if done well.
Also the sources for parts etc are out there.
Mind diff ratios might be a start point?
Are the wagon diff's different?
Can we differentiate between sedans and comercial's.
The little Fiat's have a transaxle/transmission.
Like an early beetle.
So not easy to change out.
But someone has built bolt on conversions for 5 and 6 speed transmissions.
I was surprised at that.
But the originals were seriously slow.
Like they used to say about the Austin 7.
They are a lot of fun but they will never replace the motorcar.
Having what seems a busy year so far and not got to the Sidecar at all lately.
The rear brake has an issue.
So just do my running around on the solo.
