Well apart from just because I liked the comparison.

Just over 6 years ago I was digging out my basement area. 

It's a brick house with concrete floors.

Houses here were for decades built on limestone block foundations on undisturbed sand soil.

With double brick walls and timber floors.

Then about the time this place was built it changed to a reinforced raft concrete slab with footings built in.

This place was at the transition stage 1969.

They dug footings but poured them in concrete. 

Half the house was levelled ground but the other half the footings followed the ground levels.

The garage under along with a huge laundry and what was the boiler room have better than 2.5 m ceilings. 

The basement was from 1.9m with concrete floor ( 24sqm ) down to 1.6 m without.

I dug out 20 sqm to 2.5m and paved.

So 44sqm not connected areas

The my mate left me with some gear to store while he did a lap of Australia. 

Covid or as I call it the scamdemic happened. 

So it was just this year the mostly last of his stuff went.

Now it's time to sort levels.

Then retain walls at the higher levels and make the space available to be utilised. 

I:E a workshop proper.

1st remove the brick pier the dig out and replace with a steel column.

The woman on the trike is my sister inlaw.

Just so 3 wheels are included.

Looking good Bruce!  That is a lot of digging.  Will be pretty sweet to have a full on woodshop.  😍

Bruce, is that small brown saddlebag on the bike made from genuine Wombat hide, or 'roo hide ?

@miles-ladue I will ask if he has a beef about letting on what his custom saddlebags a made from.

They are obviously too smooth for be a load of croc....

A bit thin skinned to jump to the roo conclusion?

So could we dig the wombat conclusion?

Or,is that pig headed.
