@brstr One of the mechanics at the local construction co was talking about going to WA to work for one of the mines. I reminded him that it makes our desolate look positively luxuriant. Money's good and Perth is lovely, but it's days of driving from the mines to Perth!
That said, we stopped in Perth on the way from JoBerg to do a program before continuing to the "popular" side of Australia. My favorite memory was that the Cockies would roost in the two trees across the street from the home I stayed in. It was wild that the blacks and the whites chose different trees from one another. I think that some folks would want to send them all to sensitivity training for being so racist if they saw that.

There's a whole section of Perth international airport devoted to FIFO airlines.
They vary in size from a few seats up to a hundred or so..
It's a very busy part of the airport.
The plane to one of the few mines I actually worked at carries the gold to Perth in its hold.
So us shut down workers (not the regular mine shifts) might have a seat home till they decide to load a bit more gold.
Then a few of us had to wait for the next plane.
