New to the forum, not to sidecars. I bought my 2007 Ural Gear Up 10 years ago this month and it's one oil change short of 50,000 miles. I ride it year round in NE Illannoy. And though getting long in the tooth, it has been an absolute blast. And handy. I need half a dozen 8 foot 2x4s from Menard's...take the Ural. Go camping with the grandkids, take the Ural. Snowing? Do donuts in a vacant parking lot, then show up at the dealer covered in snow.
A bit about me. I'm a teenager in an AARP body, but only 10 in dog years. Retired railroad construction equipment mechanic, so maintaining a weird Russian rig isn't a big deal. Married over 50 years to a girl from high school that I gave a ride to on my Honda S90. I still roller skate once a week and bicycle a few times a week. And daily walks with my aging pup, Buster.
I just put two new tires on the Ural today to keep it going.

A few of the garage denizens now that I can post pics. The Ural, that brought me here. My youngest grandson giving me the eye.
As of today, the fairing has been painted a light olive drab. It will probably go back on Friday or Saturday. I also just replaced the rear fender and both the pusher and sidecar tires.
My 1979 Honda CX500 that got me back into riding after almost 30 years away from it.
And the money pit. My 1948 DeSoto. Currently laid up with a bum clutch.
There are also dozens of bicycles, from 1947 to 2017, a 1970 Herters mini bike, and a couple of French Velosolex mo-peds.

An oil leak or three pretty much sums up the DeSoto. I think most of them come from the semi auto transmission.

The Tiddler rides sound like something I'd do.
The Herters. It's a 1970 and belonged to my SIL's Dad when he was a kid.
Bill, the SIL's Dad, has some health issue that pretty much prevents him from doing much crawling around that wrenching requires. It got dropped in my lap to get it up and running for the grandsons. I replaced the missing Clinton flathead with a B&S 5.5 HP OHV engine I had on the shelf, new bearings in the steering and jack shaft, machined a new shaft and bushings for the swing arm, and fought some of the rust.
It's loud, the fat turf tires don't lean well at all, and braking is wishful thinking. In other words, it's a hoot to ride. It can roll just above idle and rocket to about 30 mph. I showed it to the grandsons after it was finished. The oldest looked at it and said to me, "Do I want to ride it? Yes, I do. Will I ride it? I don't know. It looks terrifying." The youngest just said, "No."

This one is a 1977 4600 v3, made for the US market. 49cc, 0.8 HP, top speed of 18 mph, 24 if you help. The other, which I don't have a good pic of, is a black 1973 3800 and built for the rest of the world. The two are basically the same except for the controls. The 4600 has US spec motorcycle style throttle, brake lights, and a horn, such as it is. The 3800 has a 'speed reducer' instead of a throttle. It works just the opposite of a throttle. It has head and tail lights and no brake light or horn. They are kind of fun.
The Ural will be at the DuKane ABATE booth this weekend at both the Dupage County Sheriffs "Safety Saturday" and at The Elburn Lions Club Car Show on Sunday. Guess how the booth is going to get to both places.
I let the kids sit in, and on it, so their parents can take pics. Brings a big smile to the kids faces. I suppose I better think about washing it...Nah!
