My wife passed  away earlier this year and left me the single parent of a standard poodle. My wife did not enjoy being a passenger so that limited my bikin' I'm riding a lot more and there are lots of places I frequent that are dog friendly ,and I hate to leave the dog home, so I'm thinking sidecar. I would only use it for short trips 30-50mi. I have a good running R1100rt and it fits well. a rig with that would be my first choice. And I would rather ride than wrench, so a good running complete rig  would be great.

A post to BMW/MOA led me here and there is a nice R1150 rig for sale in the marketplace at what seems a reasonable price considering what a new sidecar costs. I just reached out to seller so...

Biggest issue I see is I'm in FL and I think the rig is in Wisconsin. I've never driven a rig with a sidecar and driving one 24 hours as my first trip may be Ill advised. I suppose if I bought it trailering would be my best option, but I hate being in a cage that long.

Welcome Andrew!  Sadness that your wife has gone on and gladness that the most unconditional adoration from your poodle is yours to treasure and remember.  Any number of folks will chime in positively about your exploration of sidecar life to continue the exploration of this wide world.

Don't be afraid of distances because this is a very helpful and encouraging place and there are any number of members willing to assist a fellow three wheel enthusiast, ESPECIALLY when there's a pooch involved.

I am going to make a personal encouragement to explore the options of rigs available.  Some have advantages that others may not.  Please don't just go to "low price" because that isn't always the best option.  I speak from some level of experience (my own and other's).

After three approved posts you will be able to post freely and to add photos of your beloveds to your posts.
