Just for fun little fuel mileage Discussion .

First my rig is a good size and some what heavy.  During this it was two up and loaded..   I have generally considered 31-33 MPG about right. I tend to roll on a bit fast and if the left lane is needed I use it. On this trip there was time to mess around. On the way to FL speed were high and seemed that the 31-33 was about right.

Ignore the start time on some if I set it the nigh before or ahead of time it can confuse you. Als number of stops. If you stop for any reason shut bike off and the start it it counts as a stop each time you do.

On Blue Ridge Park way speeds a low . We took out time and I made use of the down grades. 207 miles

Then 605 miles in the rain through TN,KY,IN and IL ran and auto tune the whole way. Stopped for the nigh.  Next morning straight home no rain nice 58 degrees. 227 miles.

Only time will tell but appears the auto brought the mileage up a fair amount.

Some tuners have an auto tune feature. I have for years used Dynojet Power Vision tuners.  When I changed the cam, exhaust and Air cleaner.  Fuel moto supplied a very good tune to match. Load it bike ran like lighting.

The auto tune will figure out changes then apply them to a tune you wish.

Have put 1,000 miles on the Trike now. I can draw some conclusions about fuel mileage.

Coming home from The area of KY Hannigan is located I have always gotten the best mileage. Car,Car with trail, sidecar two up or 1 up.

So when I saw the fuel mileage coming home I knew that would not be a good picture of the mileage.

As of yesterday 1,000 miles on it now. Wide range of riding both road conditions and throttle use.  I decided to ignore the bikes GPS fuel mileage  summary. It trends to report high.

For 959 miles 1 up two up for some of it. 39.30 MPG.  I will keep tracking it until I have a good picture or what to expect.

@miles-ladue

I am not betting on seeing that at all times. We shall see.

Ride to KY Dam and in that area for a week will provide more insight.

Now that you've seen it, stop watching.  🤩

When I first picked up the truck, the first drive included a 50 mile stretch into Oregon that was almost all down hill.  The 50 mile best fuel mileage history shows almost 29mpg (it's a one ton 4x4).

That bit of information shall forever be saved.  Whenever I feel bad about the lousy "winter blend" fuel mileage, that little piece of history brings a smile. 😎

Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

That's like what I did on my original Garmin Zumo 550...on one downhill stretch of road in Montana, I was able to hit 131 mph reading on the GPS, which is more accurate than the bike's speedo....on a 2003 Hoinda Goldwing 1800.

I saved that 131 mph reading as the highest speed attained..for several years. Cool

My mate had the1st of the GS 750 Suzuki's .

It would run 215 kph or 9250rpm in top.

With redline at 9000.

No GPS though.

Fuel mileage is going to be what it is. So many factors can change it. I will keep an accurate track of it for a while then just move on. I do want a good general idea what is will do.

At 1500 miles checked it yesterday and 39.3 . That is based on Fuel used from the time it was picked up.  Road trip Sept 19th . Heading to KY Dam Area. Planning to stop in at Hannigan.

@smitty901, to say that I am envious of the fuel mileage you are getting on your new trike, is an understatement.

On this recent trip of almost 4,000 miles, from Washington State to the Sidecar Rally in the Flint Hills of Kansas, and back to home in Washington State, there was a very brief, and fleeting moment when I saw 37.3 mpg, so it must have been downhill, and following slower sidecar rigs.

But overall, my fuel consumption average for the entire trip was 25.5 mpg.

Yes, all you wankers, I do know that speed plays a lot into how much fuel is "sucked" out of the tank, and "shoved" into this 1,833cc fuel injected flat 6 engine. But...a BattleWing Galactica has got to do what a BattleWing Galactica does....right ?  It's called...Hammertime

Not like MC Hammer, but more like Thor, and his mighty Hammer.

Maybe...if I repainted my entire bike and sidecar to that BlurPle color......nah...that would only gain 2 or 3 mpg.

Same bike same tune with sidecar(twin Classic) before it was triked. the best average I could claim on trips was 31mpg. Yes at times good tail wind reasonable speed I saw higher . But the 31mpg seems to have been about it.

The Twin classic and the big wind shield created a lot of drag.
