Starting to look around at actual places to stop overnight etc and realizing that i have a lot of choice for free camping. It seems i can almost pull off the side of the road and set up my tent; advice most welcome. Not quite literally but you get the idea =) First overnight will likely be to Texas sidecar for the tree fit and then maybe a ramble round if i have any money left!

So i have google maps but what is the best up to date Android online site finder for my travels? Or simply a good campsite book but maybe they are out of date more often

I think i can manage to make up a sign that says F OFF I HAVE A BIG DOG, grin.

Camping with a wing point and go!

Normally I just do a quick google search about lunch time, when I have an idea of where I'll be in the evening.Β  At one time I had a membership with KOA, but kept finding really cool places along the route, and rarely stayed at a KOA.Β  There must be some good apps by now too.Β  Never tried one, so no personal experience with that.

Steve, whilst I am no longer a "camper", as I hotel it ...there is info on the ADVRider website for free camping spots. People on that website post up that they are offering free camping at their place.

But, aside from the ADVRider people, just be aware that this is not jolly old England, so....be careful when stopping to camp for the night.

Might ask Kent Silk if they have a place close to their shop, where you can camp for a night or two.

Steve, Kent has a large open space around his shop in Donie. Being a small town, very small, the only thing that might wake you up in the middle of the night is a freight train rumbling thru.

The town I live in (Broken Bow, Nebraska) like many towns have a park that permits free 1-5 night tent camping or have a municipal campground for RVs and the like (small fee).Β  Staying off the big roads makes for more pleasant travel and lets one meet friendly folk with smaller risk associated with larger cities.

Alas, as reported earlier, trains and their associated noises are a hazard of such accommodations.

I use Ioverlander app a lot when Out and about. Β Pretty simple and people leave reviews off where they Stealth Camped or for camp grounds etc. As I plot a route around Oregon for this summers trip I am finding GAIA mapping is pretty good at showing where all the camp rounds are. I am like Sheath. Never really knowing where I am going to end up I start the Google search late afternoon and verify with the various Apps I have on my phone.. Sometimes even Garmin will search out a nice spot but rarely πŸ™‚Β

maybe not for everybody but when i bicycled and motorcycle-camped i would just pull off into an inconspicuous brushy verge off the roadway and camp there, or stop in a town fairgrounds for the night its not hard to find a spot off the road in a place where people wont bother you. free and no regulations.

is that "stealth camping?" its all ive ever done.

A nice reference for camping, or any kind of overnighting for that matter.
