Hay guys an Gals

Moving right along here. Pulled the trigger on triple tree (ouch)

Paid for the Rally

Now i need to find the best way to anchor a harness for Sam. Looking at the floor i can see a couple of  good sized bolts; is it a good idea to use one as a mounting point. I have a no pull type harness so its just the anchor points

pooch

 Thanks peeps

No i am NOT using the anchor point shown

I used a tie down off the bed of my Ford truck. I put it just in front of the seat. I used big fender washers underneath so it couldn't pull through. His harness has several attachment points. I use the one on the very back on top. I use a short leash. It still allows Wilton to be able to get down in the floor and move around a bit. He likes getting up in the nose of the sidecar out of the sun.

This is as far as he can go. He likes standing up when we stop and looks around. But sits down as soon as we get going.

I used to have a sidecar with a top that hinged in the front like yours and I anchored the leash to the hinge mechanism at the front.  This was for my dog Lena who doesn't like the wind, so on sidecars trips she would mostly stay low and under/behind the windscreen.  But it worked for her.  I just had to adjust the length to where I wanted it.  The harness I used had an attachment point on the top between her shoulders.  I ignored that and instead made my own attachment point down low on her chest.

She has a riding buddy, Kirby, who likes the wind and likes to ride up high.  For him, I anchored the leash to the sidecar frame on the left side of the car.  Kirby would NEVER try to get out of the car on the bike side because he was smart enough to see that there was no escape route that way (too narrow).  Occasionally he would try to escape out the right side of the sidecar (like when he got attacked by a hornet when we were stopped) and the leash kept him from getting out of the cockpit in that direction.  His leash was tethered to his harness under his belly so that he could sit, stand, and walk in circles without getting tangled.

Here's a rare pic of Lena coming up for air --->

Consider using a tie down point that is high enough so that your pup can turn around and go under the tether.  This prevents your co-pilot from getting tangled.

Great topic of conversation. 😎   So many ways to accomplish a similar mission.

For Super Muttress we used a harness with a bottom D-Ring, and a short leash that came up from below at the front edge of the seat cushion.  This allowed her to move around comfortably, but in case of an accident her legs, body, neck would not extend past the to top of the tub.

Because of the summer heat, we used a strap type harness, but if heat isn't an issue a better choice may be a body harness.  Unfortunately she passed before we had much "riding time".  So I can't write to longevity.  In the short time she rode she seemed very comfortable with the setup.

Short leash coming up at front of seat.  Wally world foam, and kitchen seat cushions extended the "cush" all the way to the nose.
