Steve, personally, my vote is for NO.

History has shown that 99.314159% of the OEM equipment on a Honda Goldwing does not fail...within the first 500,000 miles.

History has also shown that it is the aftermarket accessories that cause failure, breakdowns, crying on the side of the roadway.

The things you have added to this sidecar rig, i.e., the Gufstaffsen (sp) windscreen for the sidecar itself, those are a needed and necessary asset, and you did quite well on that. But adding a digital instrument cluster to the center of your dash, and incorporating it into the bike's wiring, is asking....ney...begging for trouble.

BTW, as a sideline, or short digression....in case anyone wants to know, you CAN install the Speedometer and the Tachometer from a similar year Honda ST-1100 into the dash of a Goldwing 1500, and they are basically a plug 'n play connection. You would only do this if you want your Goldwing 1500 to read speeds well above what a "normal" Goldwing 1500 is capable of.

It does look cool.Β

Wonder if it could be done as a piggy back, where a breakout cable is fabricated.Β  Any failure of the dash display wouldn't effect the bike that way.

Hold my keyboard and watch this! πŸ™ƒ

The earliest version of the Goldwing 1500's, like 1988 & 1989, suffered from vapor lock issues, because of that fuel cap. They came out with a remedy, but you probably just fixed it yourself.

BTW, what is the difference between a "boy loads of crap" and a "girl loads of crap" ?

Good tips here. We will start the mod in the incoming Goldwing 1500 once we mounted the lift kit, nerf bars, and bumper on the truck and clear the garage. Good to hear the ST-1100 dash would work.
