Morning Finn. I’m no expert and I’m sure you’ll get lots of opinions.

Some say a damper is just masking a problem. I say I don’t have a problem with the damper installed. Other than serious shoulder work to wrestle handlebar at slow speeds I can drive straight at 70 with two fingers.

Here’s where my lack of diverse experiences comes in. I’ve had two rigs 40 years apart. Exact same GL1100 with a Vetter Terraplane. My first one didn’t have damper and it was like bulldogging. You did not want to let go at any time.  Current ride has a slight wobble at mid speed if I let go entirely but just resting my hands on bars holds it steady.

Here’s where the more experienced hackers will need to speak up. I have been searching for a LL to fit the old Honda to lighten the steering. I know it’s like power steering but doesn’t that also solve some of the frame geometry and wiggle problems?

Are you on the road now with it? From what I’ve found the factory alignment specs are more recommendations and starting points.

And to answer your question. I use the VW cylinder from fork to car front corner.  Pic soon
