You need to contact Lowell Neff. He does excellent work, and will custom design and build a subframe for your specific frame. It will directly bolt to existing attach points on the frame. He is not quick or cheap, but the work is very good. He built me a subframe for a 1978 R100/7 that I was very pleased with.
Will do that, thanx for the link. I'm just in the planning stages for this summer's ride and while I was in the garage this evening looking at the R80/7 I thought how neat it would be with a hack. That brings me to the next question...which hack? Normally I ride alone (even with a hack) so what do you guys think would be the best one for this vintage ride? Non-two seater suggestions would probably be best, and thanks for your ideas.

I think the BMW's look the best with a vintage hack. I put a Ural car on my R/100 and it looked great! Although the Ural's are heavy, they are most accurately described as tank like. It will be a rig that will take anything you can throw at it from hi-way to bi-way. Ural hack's can be acquired pretty cheap and you will not be disappointed. Lowell is the best guy to mate the BMW with a Ural or Sputnick. I planned on keeping my Bmw/Ural rig for a very long time until my Drifter rig became available at a price I could not refuse. The BMW/Ural rig as whole was greater than the sum of its parts. The Ural hack was from a Bavarian Classic that I owned but wanted a little more reliable tug. I sold the Ural as a solo, and the BMW as a sidecar rig and made a fortune. I now enjoy touring on my Driter/Motorvation rig, good luck and have fun.
