Loop Around the Ashley & Wasatch National Forest in Utah

Went for a nice ride around the mountains to see how the new tires would work out for a long day's ride.
Out of Vernal Utah, the road through Flaming Gorge has all these signs calling out different fossils they've found. Thought this "Raptor Hunting Grounds" sign was interesting. Thankfully the season for old guys on yellow sidecars is over for the year. This area is rich in fun stuff for geologists, paleontologists, and those hoping to be one someday.
The only fossils I saw today were riding Harleys, and a bright yellow sidecar.
Coming down the north side of the summit is Sheep's Creek. Again I forgot to bring a paddle.
Wyoming has a real sense of humor when labeling "County Roads". This one started off as a service route between to ranches, then someone built a home. Great "Fixer-Upper!" I called Chip Gaines but he doesn't do Wyoming.
Further down it just kept getting worse as they flooded the fields and it turned the road into a swamp. then a big vehicle went down it and got buried to the axles. Then other vehicles came to help, and got buried to the axles. Now the whole thing is like an Enduro-Cross track. Pretty fun though. I ended up getting to cross it twice, because after that it was gated, and a big bull was eying the Screaming Yellow Zonker.
The goal was to stay off the freeways. Pretty easy to do with Google by just selected "Avoid Freeways".
Have you ever been traveling down a desolate part of the interstate and seen dirt roads off to one side or the other? Thought, wonder where that goes?
Well on the south side of I-80 just west of Bridger, WY I got to find out.
(I-80 on the right side of the picture heading up to Evanston, WY)
Seems during the trip from MO, to SLC the Mormons found a great place for a Mud Wresting Contest (and we thought road trips in the station wagon were boring). Muddy Creek itself is just a draw with a shallow creek in the middle of nowhere. You'd have thought they'd have gone on to Evanston, and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
Writing about "heading to Evanston, Evidently Moses didn't realize Evanston has a Super Walmart where he could have bought all the charcoal he wanted. They even have lighter fluid, so no oil drilling need be done. He should have stuck to parting the sea.
Just a bit further down the dirt road are these charcoal kilns. Again, middle of nowhere. Go figure.

Finally made the turn onto the Mirror Lake Byway. One of the prettiest rides in Utah. It runs from Evanston, WY to the megatropolis of Kamas, UT. through the Wasatch NF. Lots of smoke from all the fires, and a bit hard to see the mountains.
Up over the summit, and heading down is Pass Lake (far left side of picture) and Mirror Lake just east of Bald peak.
Beautiful winding road with so much to see that being in a hurry is a felony (well it should be. lol).
Stopped in Samak at The Notch. Pretty much a local hangout. Burger and beer was good, but spendy. Next time I'll just go into Kamas to the little Mexican restaurant next to the Chevron (they have awesome food!).
Filled up with Gas in Kamas and headed out through Woodland towards Tabiona. This is another very pretty canyon, that starts in the pines, goes above then, and then down into the desert of the Uinta Basin.
Just east of woodland climbing up the pass.
So that was it. Uinta Basin was in the low 90s as I rolled into the garage. Glad to be up on a bench where it is a few degrees cooler.
Bike ran great. Nothing broke, including me. A major success.
