Unsupervised again

Gee, why are all the people coming to the Olympic Peninsula? Oh yeah, clear and clean sky, green green forest, no bugs, no rain, and some days it heats up all the way to in the 70's .
But a really big tourist hatch.
So I hide out on inactive (hopefully) logging roads.
The peak in the background is Snider Peak and on the other side of the ridge is the Kloshe Nanich view point which I believe a lot of motorcycle travelers go to. The road on this side of the peak is washed out in a number of places. There's at least one U tube video of some guys bouncing a single track across the gap...

A high in the mid-70's... ? I woke up early Saturday morning to a humid 82 degrees with a mid-day heat index forecast of 106 F. We don't ride much in July-August down this way.
I do admire your rig though. An ideal set up for the type of forest road exploring you do.
Keep posting your photos, just looking at them cools me off. 🤠

Well, thank you, and the outfit's configuration is pretty close to what I want but, as Mr. Ben Franklin found out, when you source a sidecar outfit from certain places, you either are a good welder, or you are about to become one, or you know where to hire one. Broke one of those hideous dog leg struts. Basically it's !@#$%^&*. But I have a really big hammer.

Dave, on a serious note, perhaps you should become friends with Chuck @54vintage, that lives in Eugene.
He is THEE man for building top notch frames, sidecars, mounts, etc.
He built the replacement Leading Link front end for Ben Franklin's Africa Twin, and is in cahoots with Mike Paull for building all sidecar frames, subframes, etc that Mike Paull needs, that aren't sourced from LBS in the Netherlands.
Chuck is also doing a build on Mike Paull's own Africa Twin rig.
You can do welding yourself, but it might be beneficial to meet Chuck....and see what develops.
Ultimately, you should remove all the crap that the former DMC sidecars did to your rig, and you.

Dave, as usual your pictures are outstanding and make me deeply regret not catching up with you when you offered, back on my trip to pick up my rig now 2 years ago.
Your mods to fix the DMC WA screwups have been inspiring, on my AT journey, I still go back to some of your pics on sub-frame and such.
Who knows, since I have been reinforcing my subframe in at least 5 areas, I may have it to actually be rigid and functional; if not, at least it is stupid heavy.
I have high hopes for Chuck Loftin's re-design, as he builds Mike's and maybe a couple others. Even contemplate riding up there sometime during the process. Maybe he will build an "extra?" 🤣

@metalcarver Nice to see you out and about.. I have to plan for a little more time next time I am in your area so you can really show me around. No camping in the clouds though

We drove past at least 3 luxurious dispersed camping places to get to the patch of sticks we camped in...
Now that the rig is parked for a couple of days (strut at welders) I have a pretty complete set of measuring tools and a seat at a high end cad/cam program so I can figure out which end is up and write it down.

Was perfectly fine.. Next time we'll plan it a bit better, maybe get some of these other rascals to come along too.
