Wash and Polish
Good morning. I am curious as to what other folks use to wash their rigs and what they use to polish them. I have heard a lot of good things about ceramic polishes but there are so many out there to choose from or if they are just hype. Also is there something you can use to bring back the faded black part of a fairing? I look forward to hearing all the different things people use and do to keep their bikes looking good.
for the fairing I use a product called Back to Black, it works wonders on pretty much any vinyl, plastic, rubber or even leather. it absorbs nice and doesn't leave a greasy film like armored all can. if it is faded bad it might take a few coats to get it back to original luster.
If it's your inner fairing on the Harley really faded, it's not going to come back, you be better of repainting it with trim black to make it look like new.
I'm far from being any kind of detailer knowledgeable person, so take this with many grains of salt (or better yet, the whole bag)...
For washing, I use Turtle Wax Max Power Car Wash. It was recommended to me for washing the 5th wheel by an experienced RV couple when I was traveling. Really made bug removal on the fiberglass cap a breeze, and kept the rig looking like new. When I'm out of that, dish washing soap is my go-to. Then a spray on Marine grade wax to protect the fiberglass. The last stuff I used was McGuires brand. Although no idea if one brand is better than another in this regard.
It's bug season out here, so I've been using Tusk Plastic and lens cleaner/polish, on the front of the BMW/Dnepr, and the Triumph Speed 400 rigs. Also do the fuel tanks, and my helmet. This makes bug removal much easier.
Decades back I had a pretty savvy motorcycle mother tell me to use pledge on my goggle lens to help mitigate dust. That worked pretty well for dry desert racing. No idea if there are any long term issues with using this on plastic fairings, etc..
Just had the Jeep ceramic coated. No idea what brand they used, but oh my does it look beautiful. Project Farm on YouTube did a pretty extensive test for durability of different brands. Might be worth looking that video up.
Good luck with your project! 😎
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

Still do this... works a treat on face shields and windshields, as well.
@aceinsav Is the Back to Black something that would work well on the vinyl windshield skirt and tonneau cover for the Ural hack? Like you mentioned, I don't like the greasy feeling the ArmourAll leaves..
I use it on everything on my bike that is black be it plastic, vinyl, rubber or leather, well ok not on my tires
Oh and the pledge thing is great on the plastic body parts of the wing, I used to get the wipes and keep them in my saddle bag, I would use them for a quick wipe down just to keep the dust and lite dirt off. Not sure why I stopped doing that, hmm may have to go get some and get back in the habit.
