Sidecars in the Wild
I went to the Four Winds and didn’t see a single sidecar. I wish there was more of them in this area
Sidecars are just a rare beast on the road. There are a few around me up here but most owners don't ride them much. I am the only one who is out and about in town and I do get lots of curious looks and of course the usual SCDF. (Side car delay factor). On my big trips I usually see a few fellow sidecar travellers, always going the other way, so other than a big wave, no connections, ships passing in the night so to speak.
We use to get several show up at our club campouts, sadly lately it is just me, club members are even aging out of riding their rigs. Maybe the cost of entry, the quirkiness, not enough curiosity, lack of good builders, especially here in Canada, Ural in demise is keeping sidecar numbers low.
MGV8 We have the same problem. club members are aging old plus other thing that come with aging. I'm heading to our club campout tomorrow and it don't look good. I being getting to many not so good calls.
Same comment for european countries, I think it has to do with efforts.....Young people tend to look for easier way to spend their time, side car practice is a "state of mind" i believe....
Here in Ecuador, I don't have to loock for sidecars.....NONE, i am the only "loco"

Arno, if you have ever been to the Elefentreffen in Germany, in February, then there are a lot of sidecar rigs that show up for that.
The sidecar rigs do better on the snowy/icy roads than the 2 wheeled motorcycles, yet hundreds of 2 wheeled bikes do show up.
In fact, I will be driving my BattleWing Galactica to the local Car Club monthly meeting this evening, just to show those olde guys that there is another form of transportation, other than our 50 to 100 year olde cars. Quarrymen Car Club, Tenino, WA.
See, Brian is not the only one with access to a car lift, to lift his "side" car up. I only have to walk about 80 feet to my shop at my ranch, so easy convenience.

Love that footage from 1970.
It would be great to get English sub titles so as to understand what they were saying.
The old guy being interviewed would have seen almost every stage of the motorcycle development in his life to that point.
Thank you.
