Now wait just a doggone minute there buckaroo.....you just built that  Sidecarportal, and you are telling us that you don't recall the exact width of your newly built...by you...Sidecarportal ?????

I mean....when you emailed me asking for the exact width of my sidecar rig,  I didn't hesitate to give you an exact measurement.

Ya bum Bruise

So I looked back in my notes and if I hang curtains on both sides of the sidecarport, I will have 81" side to side - my recollection is that the widest part of the rig will be 77.5", so I think (hope) I will be good.

Mike, your 81" interior width will be buffing the sides of the bike and sidecar fender,  so.....a very  smart man would hang extra fluffy extra large terrycloth beach towels on the inside of the side curtains,  so that when the side curtains wiggle in the wind, the terrycloth beach towels can gently massage the bike saddlebag , and the sidecar fender,  rather than scratch the paint on both sides.

Yeah...that's what a very smart man would do. Cool

Yep - the side curtains are gonna be a work in process. Definitely don’t want the curtains messing up this rig!

Are there any very smart men on this site?

Sounds a perfect garage size for my Fiat.

It's no more than 5 foot wide.

Well, as such things seem to go sometimes, despite having my bike down to Hannigan by early February and letting them know that I would be flying in today, the rig is “not quite ready”! Hoping to be on the road in the next 60-90 minutes…

So - still sitting at Hannigan… Some troubleshooting being done e on the bike - DCT transmission not working properly. Now been here over 4 hours waiting on a rig that was supposed to be done in February!

It's been a long day - woke up at 4:00AM ET to get to the airport for my flights to KY. Arrived at Hannigan @ 1:30PM CT very excited to pick up my new sidecar rig. I had shipped the bike to Hannigan in early February. Rig wasn't finished and after the trouble shooting, I was in the saddle by 7:45PM. I wanted to get a couple hundred miles in and originally thought I would have more than enough time to get to know the rig, play around with it and have a leisurely ride to my first stop on the way home. Because of the delay at Hannigan, all I had time to do was hop on the rig and ride the 220 miles or so to my first stop. Essentially all of the ride was in the dark.

The good news is that the rig ran great! (And, at the end of the day, that's most important!) This is my 4th sidecar, but first Hannigan. Had the rig up to 90ish MPH and no issues whatsoever. This ride was on highways and I'm hoping I'll have a bit of time over the next couple of days to do some back roads.

Frustrating and exhausting, but couldn't be happier with the result!

Mike, congratulations on the new Hannigan Dream sidecar. By the time you get home, you will LOVE it.

I can confirm.... Hannigan does have their own internal issues, but in the end they are about as good as is humanly possible.....then YOU have to refine their product to be better than what they hand you.

If you come up to the USCA National Sidecar Rally in Topsham, Maine, I can show you the improvements I have made to my Hannigan Dream sidecar.

Have a SAFE, yet FUN ride home.

Thanks! Will post some pics later today. Miles, I will check the calendar to see if it allows me to get up to the rally.
