My journey with adding Gen 3 Dream Hannigan sidecar to my Goldwing
First off, I can't express enough appreciation to several members of this community for their thoughts, patience and input in my journey. It's been quite thought provoking and, at last, I decided to add a Hannigan Gen 3 Dream tub to my 2023 non-tour DCT Goldwing. With a lot of input from Flying Monkey, I had my first conversation with Hannigan today. They need to get back to me on a few of the questions I raised and then work up a price for building and installing the sidecar.
Needless to say, I am very excited about this. It's been an ordeal trying to figure out what to do and now we can finally get to work on making it happen!
Again, thanks to everyone who helped with my decision!
I will keep you posted on the progress, but it will likely be a bit of a slow process.
Ride safe,
Mike

Mike, will you post 3 pictures of your bike, as it sits now. Point is, I need COLOR context/information.
Secondly, stay in very close touch with me, in email, because I know from personal experience, and having talked with others that have the Hannigan Dream Sidecar what Hannigan does right....and what YOU need to be aware of in advance, to keep Hannigan on the straight and narrow to avoid the mistakes they have done on previous Dream Sidecars.

Here are a few pics from before I bought the bike, so you won’t be able to see my pretty Ultimate seat, but you can see the color…

Miles - I'll be in touch as soon as I hear back from them.
Thanks!

Mike, at least you bought the right color
Seems like I have seen a Honda Goldwing with a Hannigan Dream sidecar in that same color...somewhere
I will also have to show you how to remove that Hannigan sign/plackard on the very back of the sidecar, then install the roundels of the Honda Flying Wing in certain locations on the bike, and sidecar, to tie the bike and sidecar together as one.
You will need to order a total of 4 of the Honda Flying Wing roundels....3 from the right side of the bike fairing, and one from the left side of the bike fairing....then I can show you where to place them on the bike and sidecar.

Ha!! I noticed that!
I think the 2023 version is just slightly darker than the 2019. I love the matte finish - although I've only had the bike a couple of months, it seems like it will be much easier to keep it clean. FWIW, Honda calls the 2019 paint "Matte Majestic Silver" and the 2023 paint "Matte Gray".

Yes, Mike, I am quite aware of the "minor" differences in tint variation between my '19 Wing, and your '23 Wing....but did you really need to point out that yours is the faster color? I mean, come on man, I am trying to help you here, so don't make it noticeable that I have the slower colored bike.
What I really like is the Red anodized covers on the heads of the engine on your bike, but....you could, if you want to, be jealous of all the Carbon Fiber "wrap" on my bike and sidecar, as well as the Klock Werks windshield, and the Russell Day Long seat with stitching thread that matches the color of the bike. I mean, my bike and sidecar is really hip, when yours is still trying to not be square.

Oh yeah BABY! It's On Like Donkey Kong! 🤩
(albeit at a slightly more relaxed pace. 😉 )
I'm a fan of the tasteful inclusion of the red bits as well.

Ha!! I've been jealous of your bike since you put it together! Until we started "talking" again on the forum, I forgot that you were the mastermind behind the BattleWing! I was a troller on the forum back then, but I believe I sent an email offering to purchase your rig should you ever decide to sell it - so, in all honesty, I am a bit humbled that I am in the process of building a rig that will be "similar" to yours. I had no idea when I purchased the 2023 Wing that you had used that same color in your build (my memory ain't what it used to be!). And, as it turns out, in addition to the Ultimate seat, I have previously added the same Klock Werks windshield! Currently, I call my bike "Smokey", but it may end up looking like a younger sibling to BattleWing!
And, yes, I do like the red accents on the bike - and you'll see how tastefully I've tied in the red accents with the stitching on my Ultimate seat!

For Pete's sake, you can stop mentioning that Ultimate seat in every third sentence. You know I am seriously a fan of RDL seats, so why make yourself look bad by constantly mentioning that Ultimate seat ?

And so the process begins... My order with Hannigan has been worked out and they will soon be getting me into the build queue. Sometime this month I will be getting the bike prepped for the sidecar addition - changing spark plugs, air filter rear differential fluid, oil & filter and DCT trans filter, along with checking the brake pads and adding new tires which have been ordered. Hope to get the bike down to Hannigan sometime in January, but that will be dictated by Hannigan.

Right On! Pretty cool to see progress happening. 👍

Mike, do you plan on staying there in Murray, Kentucky whilst they do the attachment work to your bike, or are you dropping the bike off, then going back home, and waiting for them to call you to say come pick it up ???
I ask, because "IF" you are hanging out for the 4 to 5 days it takes them to do the full installation, they have a well used Toyota Camry that they will let you use, no charge, so you can get around, rather than sit in a motel room.
I discussed the sidecar Rear Spoiler w/Brake Light with Justin, and he was going to dig deeper into that. I told him the one they came up with for my Dream sidecar was perfect, so they should use the same one for your sidecar.
Also...and this is important...ask Justin...in person whilst you are there dropping off your bike....if they have moved that sidecar SIDE light, that is mounted to the sidecar body on the RIGHT side of the sidecar body, forward of the side DOOR...ask them if they have now moved that bolted on light rearward.....as I personally requested, and they did it for me on my Dream sidecar, because when I carefully looked over the one they had on the showroom floor, Dream sidecar # 1, it had that side light too far forward, and with the angular curve of the nose of that sidecar, that light was now shining the light towards the road in front of the bike....rather than shining the light more straight forward, in front of the sidecar.
I had them move that side light so that it was 2" exactly in front of the grab rail, so that the rear most part of that light was 2" in front of that grab rail, and the result is that the side light now shines the light more straight, rather than curved towards the roadway in front of the bike.
My point was...I wanted that sidecar side light to be SEEN by oncoming car drivers, with a YELLOW lens film on it, so that car drivers would see it better, aimed forward, not aimed to the roadway in front of the bike.
I do not know if Hannigan has used MY idea of where to position that light, on all the Dream sidecars they have built since then, or if they have reverted back to their poor design.
First picture, the Red Dream sidecar, shows the side light too far forward, shining the light at a curved angle, toward the roadway in front of the bike.
Second picture, of my Dream sidecar, the 2nd one they built, shows that same light more rearward, so it shines the light more straightforward.

Moved back looks much better aligned with the yellow sidemarker lamp too.
Man that is a great looking combination. 😍

Not sure that this qualifies yet as progress, but it is a step. I fear that progress is going to be s l o w...
