If Money Were No Object...
What kind of setup would you have?
Mine would be most likely be an Ultra Classic with either a TLE or Liberty hack. I would keep my Road King for a solo ride. This can change as I am still new to this and still looking around.
I like what I've got in my avatar pic. '10 FLHX/Liberty combo.
Now if we just had some decent spring weather so I could hit the highway in comfort, I'd be a happy tourer.

I have at the present time, enough disposable bank account to have a rig of my choosing and although it is nice to dream about these things, In reality it would be hard to better what I presently have for where I live.
My limo is an 09 Honda Aero pulling a Kenna that I designed my own mounts for. I didn't approve of what it came with.
My utility hack is a Ural hack carried very well by my DR 650. With 15X 48 sprockets it is sporting and capable of off road travel. I still use it to make round trips to Kona and back, (about 130 miles), but its primary use is as a P/U truck.
The Honda is for more comfort and smoother especially for a passenger.
My gofer bike is a TW with 4 bags for cargo, and road worthy tires instead of knobs.
The only thing I need to spend on is maintainence and 4.17 a gallon gas. One of the reasons I don't want a larger engine.

Where the hell are my photos? I tried both with and without the [img things]

Hey, Phelonious, I edited your post with the protocol: .
Thanks for posting the pics. Nice rigs. The DR & TW are both intriguing.

I've owned a dozen combinations over the last 40 plus years. I'm very happy with the 1996 Goldwing and Friendship 3 combination that I have.
If I were to update, it would probably be to a next generation Goldwing, whatever that may end up being. Of all the motorcycles I've owned, ranging from new Harleys to old Indians. the top four were all second hand Goldwings. I'd like to one day own a new one.
Rather than replace what I have, I would add an older Goldwing and sidecar as a "winter rig" and maybe a dual sport with a Ural car for playing around.
And, of course, a 1929 Indian 4 cylinder outfit for special days.

Okay, am I to assume that goes at the end?

This was my special days rig until a few years ago when I needed cash real bad and sold it.

If money would't be an issue, this toy would find its way to Costa Rica....

Phelonius, You might become jealous if I tell you that the owner of the neighbourhoods HD-repair shop back in Germany used to drive his MG-copy mounted on an original Zuendapp-rig using his fathers Wehrmachts uniform....
But what I most liked about his mashine shop, is that he still uses his grandfathers mill from 1911 which is in perfect shape.

You are right I am envious. I used to have a full sized mill and lathe and professional welding equipment. Now all I have are hobby sized replica of same.
Note to the guy who wants a winter rig. I would suggest a 650 dual purpose and Ural or off road hack. Mine has proven itself very well in snow and ice conditions before I moved to Hawaii. With studded tires it had better control than most 4WDs because of the ability to bias weight to the area where needed. My DR650 with 15 X 48 sprockets can still haul the Ural at a top end of about 80mph and have grunt enough for off road work. The lighter weight is a plus in snow too.

As to the Mobec, how much money, (being no object) will it cost?

O yea., a '42 WLA with sidecar.
And depending on availability, a mid to late 20's Harley with sidecar. I remember seeing a Rockwell like picture of a young man and a woman riding an old Harley/sidecar and the setup was somewhere from the 20's.
Thanks for reminding me Mike.
All of the above plus maybe a twin engined tubocharged hyabusa based high performance outfit...if money was no object of course.

If money wouldn't be an issue:
Mobec Superdrive with axle steering, 2WD, reverse, reduction (Latinos call it pig's gear) (if I remember right there is a hydraulic differential available too) = 24.000 Euro = 31.400 $ WITHOUT the bike nor freight nor taxes.....
From the bike is nearly nothing left, just seat, engine and fairing.
The whole thing is like a solid platform you screw under your bike's main frame.
Its not a bike with a side car, but a 3 wheeled platform with a bike's heart.
Imagine 24 shifts including 6 (or 12?) reverse!
---
Claude, for years I dreamt of a Harley's engine block with Desmodromic valve drive (Ducati) mounted inside a racing frame. In mind I had the road through the earthquake area I passed through 2 weeks ago with the new KLR 650 as single => => =>
Disapointing result => => => already the 650 with only 175 kg is way too heavy and powerfull for to ride there like in this dream!
Good point, even with minimum force I broke a my pèrsonell speed record 28.6MPH against 23.2mph with my former solo bike (20,3mph with car and 19,5mph with the Jawa rig)
And I assure you that the twin Hayabusa with a profesional racer and monkey will not bring much more then 40mph on this asphalt road!
I guess with a solo maximum possible speed is about 45mph but more likely a capital accident!
Best regards

For a solo bike, you need a TW200 Yamaha for the kind of roads you speak of. You will go faster and safer in that terrain. I once even used a fallen tree as abridge over a small but deep stream for my TW.
