If money wouldn't be an issue:
Mobec Superdrive with axle steering, 2WD, reverse, reduction (Latinos call it pig's gear) (if I remember right there is a hydraulic differential available too) = 24.000 Euro = 31.400 $ WITHOUT the bike nor freight nor taxes.....
From the bike is nearly nothing left, just seat, engine and fairing.
The whole thing is like a solid platform you screw under your bike's main frame.
Its not a bike with a side car, but a 3 wheeled platform with a bike's heart.
Imagine 24 shifts including 6 (or 12?) reverse!
---

Claude, for years I dreamt of a Harley's engine block with Desmodromic valve drive (Ducati) mounted inside a racing frame. In mind I had the road through the earthquake area I passed through 2 weeks ago with the new KLR 650 as single => => =>
Disapointing result => => => already the 650 with only 175 kg is way too heavy and powerfull for to ride there like in this dream!
Good point, even with minimum force I broke a my pèrsonell speed record 28.6MPH against 23.2mph with my former solo bike (20,3mph with car and 19,5mph with the Jawa rig)
And I assure you that the twin Hayabusa with a profesional racer and monkey will not bring much more then 40mph on this asphalt road!
I guess with a solo maximum possible speed is about 45mph but more likely a capital accident!

Best regards
Sven :O

For a solo bike, you need a TW200 Yamaha for the kind of roads you speak of. You will go faster and safer in that terrain. I once even used a fallen tree as abridge over a small but deep stream for my TW.

if money was no object as far as purchase and maintaining it my first choice would be a 77 -84 harley shovelhead with an earler steel body car.

Phelonius,
for THOSE roads where you have to cross swamp and rivers I guess the canadian Racoon with traction on the front tire too would be most likely THE option. (or a 4 footed mule)
As it is available with power take off for machinery, I ask myself if on that thing it would be possible to put a driven sidecar.
----
this is a selfmade version with hydraulic drive diesel engine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csheFaxdSgI
On this thing it would be easy to have side car drive. plus you could get 3 diferent speed ranges!
only disadvantage noise and limited power.:O

this foto is the original, but i can not find any factory information. I do remember there are ones that would even float!

....like the North sea platform engineer near Edimburg who invited me into his grandfathers machine shop in 1983:
27 bikes including a bunch of rigs, 4 cars (MG and Jaguar E serial number 27!) and his Grandfathers bike from 1903 (750ccm single cylinder and 3HP) still with the number plate up to date.
All machines in perfect working order!

David,
simply visit Nessy, drive around the coast to Edimburg, and at some trafic light you will met a friendly man with a bike from the fifties riding the same direction. As I had to that time an NSU Supermax myself, we got to talk and he invited me for a cup of tee.
That simple!
By the way I had to hurry with my CB650 for to keep up with his AJS.
Life is much more interesting then foolish television!
Sven

PS something I must have mixed up in my memory. There is one 27 too much => anyway the Jaguar E was from the first year ever built and one oft the cars I guess the Lotus was made out of plywood.

If money were NO object, I'd have a whole warehouse full.
But really, a new HD Ultra Classic Limeted with a Hannigan Classic, and a Ural 2wd. I think those two would cover any type of riding I'm likely to do.

david lloyd - 1/15/2011 7:27 PM If money was no object: I would have them all!!![/QUOTE

Money would have to be no object as in Quebec it is $633.00 for a license plate per bike per year plus insurance which is a low average of $350.00 per bike per year. Moreover, it's on average another $1000.00 per bike in yearly maintenance [tires, brakes,, oil, etc...]

HELL WAIT A SECOND....IF MONEY IS NO OBJECT? WHY THE HELL WOULD I LIVE HERE IN THIS FROZEN WASTELAND???????

COTE D'AZURE?

FLORIDA?

AUSTRALIA?

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!
