The moto specific ear plugs come with three different filters also so you can adjust as conditions require, if needed. The metal tube has a small compartment in the bottom that holds the different filters.

I wear a set when I mow the lawn or work in the shop. I am a firm believer in hearing protection.

Thanks for the clarification Dana.  I only saw the Moto Pro version which comes in 20 and 24 SNR.  https://www.earpeace.com/products/moto-pro   Had I seen the standard moto version like you have, that is what I'd have ordered to get the higher SNR.  😎

OK, I have to sound off about any brand of earplugs that aren't the squishy kind.  I evidently have THE SMALLEST EAR CANALS IN THE KNOWN WORLD.  Noise canceling earbuds, high end Bose ear buds, everything - I put the smallest of the provided adapters on them and none of them will stay in my ear.  Forever falling out.  For this reason I have to use the squishy ones.

I did once purchase a set of the custom earplugs.  One of them went missing shortly thereafter.

All that said, I can't bring myself to purchase any of the "better" systems because I have no confidence that they would remain in place and I'm out another $$.  sigh.

I was struggling with the idea of spending the "big bucks", right up to the point where the struggle to get a good seal started.  The foamies are great for noise reduction, and inexpensive. I put a new pair in each time the old pair was removed.

The sound quality, and ability to hear the bike is an added bonus with these new Earpeace plugs though.  Will see how long it takes to lose them.  lol

Currently into this project just under $100.  $40 for the Earpeace plugs, $30 for the Motosafe plugs, $25-ish for the neck gators.   One added bonus I forgot is the neck gator keeps the back of neck from getting burned by the sun.  I'm a red neck from way back.  Don't need the sun to confirm that fact.  lol

Has the Shrek man never heard of...duct tape ? It was designed and patented to close off the "ducts" that you call ear canals.

Well, I suppose that if I were to use the 100mph tape there isn't much hair to get caught up in it...

Started wearing ear muffs in the sixties when driving the tractor.

Also wore them at work when I started my apprenticeship in 72.

To the amusement of old John Furphy my bosses dad and previous boss.

What I didn't realise was the damage wind noise in a motorcyle helmet would do on 3500klm runs etc.

So tinnitus has been a companion for 40 yrs now.

Still wore plugs mostly the last few decades at work and on the bike.

And muffs now at home tinkering.

Seem to have gone full circle ⭕ muffs, plugs and muffs again.

Had issues with ear wax and dust so it's plugs only on the bike now.

To much info?

Not sure the type is as important as the wearing thereof......

Don't really remember when soft plugs became readily available.

I live in farming central.  The number of old farmers that are deaf in their left ear is remarkable.

The new kids? Feh - enclosed cabs with GPS and AirCon -  where's the adventure?!?

I'm impressed with the quality of these newer generation earplugs.  Being able to hear at almost a normal audio quality, while substantially reducing damaging noise is pretty cool.

Also impressed with the electronic shooting muffs.  I have a set with stereo mics that are really good at physical placement of sound.  Very realistic.  Originally purchased in order to hear the range-master while wearing SNR36 foam ear plugs under them.  They can be turned up to amplify soft sounds like a mouse chewing in a wall, varmint trying to dig under the house or an evil-doer attempting to gain entry.  Definitely helpful in mitigating potential problems.

Noise cancelling earbuds with Bluetooth would be pretty great to have in the garage as the build commences on the new rig.  😎

@scott-h Just following up on the LS2 Advant helmet:

The Advant 2 is a better fit for my head and my glasses also fit easier. Tried without ear plugs, the noise level is decent maybe even a  bit better than the Advant 1, once again no annoying whistles. Inner lining is different its a bit softer, i suspect that is why the fit is better. Visor is very easy to remove they changed the design from the Advant1. Vision is good certainly better than the RPHA 91. I used the Amazon return to get the right fit for Advant 1 then i returned it and reordered from Europe =) Price is better and more color options.

My tinnitus screams at a frequency of around 4000hz to 5000hz.  All day, every day non stop. Loud noises or wind noise in my helmet sets it off and it gets much louder, vit can get loud enough that I can't sleep.  I've tried several fancy motorcycle specific ear plugs, but I find them uncomfortable after about an hour or so.  I keep going back to the Moldex "Spark Plug" 6604 bullet style.  I buy the individually wrapped pairs by the case off of Amazon and they really work for me.

Just tried out the Earpeice Brand  and yup they are not cheap but they fit in my ears well. They do a better job than the foam type, not tried the different filters yet. Able to keep an ear on the bike itself which is good for any possible early warnings. Not the pro version just the standard set, now to be careful that i do not loose them!

Looks like we are going to start seeing helmets come with Noise Cancelling.  That could be a game changer.  😎

This video is specific to Cardo coming out with a new helmet.  At the end, he does a mic drop by stating there are others coming out too.

Would you spend over a grand for a helmet?  I might if it is proven to do what the marketing says it will.

@scott-h I think i will wait until they have been out for bit. I hope there are more brands the competition will  drive the price down. Some years ago Rolls Royce were using one sound to cancel another so its not new =)

First,  the man from Buffalo.....Buffalo,  Kansas that is....is correct in that noise canceling devices have been out for years. Some actually work, most actually don't work.

Having put my initial opinion aside for the opportunity to view this video from Cardo, there are some benefits of this helmet,  and reasons that justify their pricing,  such as the Carbon Fiber construction,  to name one, however,  as also pointed out by that man from Buffalo,  give it time for competitors to enter the market,  and cause a pricing reduction.

There are motorcycle riders that want as SILENT a ride as they can get (not me), and there are riders that want to listen to their LOUD pipes (not me), and make everyone else within a mile listen to their LOUD pipes too.

There are riders that want to listen to music whilst riding,  and there are riders that want to hear their motorcycle engine while riding,  as some can tell...just by the sounds of the engine...everything they need to know about when to shift, how the engine is behaving,  etc.

It's near impossible to have a 100 % silent ride, unless the rider is actually deaf, and even then some have tinnitus.

For mush less money than this Cardo helmet. a person can buy noise canceling earbuds, can wear ear plugs, etc.

This is the perfect situation for...to each their own....ride your own ride.

What I was happy to see is that this new Cardo helmet is NOT a HUD helmet....Heads Up Display.

I am adamantly against any and all HUD helmets for motorcycle riders.

Having been invited to be one of a group of test riders for HUD helmets,  the group found that 10 out of 12 riders in our test group agreed that motorcycle riders should NOT use HUD helmets,  because the information displayed on the visor is a distraction for the riders...some which may possibly get used to that distraction and look past it, but others that would continue to monitor the display info,  rather than the roadway they are on.

I voiced to this group that 90+% of motorcycle riders have less experience than they should have,  can be easily distracted, can be invisible to the typical car drivers, so...giving these less experienced riders something new to distract them will lead to more deaths, which leads to more laws and  suppression of motorcycle riders.

Everyone in our test group agreed with me on that.

Thus far,  no helmet manufacturers have successfully produced a HUD helmet on mass production, as they all see the bottom line that these helmets will lead to massive lawsuits, and the closing of their helmet companies.

Learn to ride.....learn to ride better.

I have a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones (first gen in 2000).  Bought them because I was doing a lot of flying for work.  They do a good job of reducing ambient aircraft sounds, and of attenuating conversation.  Way too many people talking about stuff no other human should hear. 🤣  Connected them to an iPod Nano to drown out those conversations, and focus on getting reports done.  I'm a big fan of attenuating traffic & my bike while reducing air noise.  So if they work like the headphones that could be a big help.

Helmet mfgs could skip past HUD to come out with Altered Reality displays.  Would increase the volume of used bike parts on eBay.   😉
