GOIN' COASTAL - 2025 USCA Rally Registration is OPEN

i registered and there was no problem, got a motel close by and am looking forward to being there . I live in Connecticut and it is a short drive, 3 hrs from my home. . One of the checkoffs on my bucket list. Always wanted to master a rig and finally did so, [I Think],I will be arriving on my Bright yellow 1984 BMW K100 and 1979 Vetter Terrraplane Sidecar combo. I look forward to any instruction that the pros can give me in control .I restored both the motorcycle and the sidecar over a 2 year period, it took me about 1000 miles to dial it in , I am open to criticism, would like to learn and I think this is the venue. I am really excited to be attending. I am 76 years young , a veteran and an avid motorcyclist riding on two wheels since 1964. Hope to see you all there. Craig McKay.
We will be riding in from Rochester NY, via Greensboro VT (my grandfather was born there) and lake Chocorua NH (to visit the Narrows Bridge). My riding buddy in the sidecar is my service dog "Rowdy". My riding partner is Gary, he will be riding his road glide (he doesn't have a sidecar). I will be riding a 2012 Sportster 1200 custom (in HD brilliant silver pearl) with a Motorvation Spyder Sidecar, a possible (2007?) painted in matching bike color. We will be staying in a hotel. Last year my riding buddy and I put on over 11,000 miles on the rig. We will be going again this year to Rolling to Remember in DC on Memorial Day weekend (unless the grandbaby puts in an appearance right before we leave). This is my first Sidecar Rally, but we've been to Sturgis a few times and to other motorcycle events. We are also Patriot Guard Riders, with many missions under our belts.

Connie, sounds like you and Gary will fit right in with the rest of us off-centered three-wheelers. We're a pretty laid back group... until it comes to the ice cream run, then it's saddle up time. We were warned that Maine has the highest number of ice cream stands per capita in the USA. Hope they got the word to stock up as our Ice Cream captains, David and Christie, will lead the charge to find and devour. 🤗 🤗 🤗

Last year in Iuka, when we all turned up at the ice cream social I was towards the end of the line. That poor girl's forearm looked like Popeye's from dishing up so much ice cream. She was a good sport, and a great server. I'm betting her arm hurt the next day though.
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃

I’m Pete from Craftsbury Common VT ( just ten miles from Connie’s grandfather’s hometown). My nine year old golden retriever, Glenlivet, and I will be taking a northern route via Rangeley ME to the rally and coming home over the Kancamagus. Our rig is a customized Hannigan Dual Sport on a 2012 BMW R1200GSA.
Glenlivet is my service dog btw. His job is to help me deal with lingering issues from old wounds from my time with the Marines, so please let him do his job. Like all service dogs his focus is on me; he is trained not to interact with other dogs and is fairly reserved around other people.
Looking forward to meeting everyone at the rally. Scrambling trying to finish my project and have it roadworthy for the rally but may have to trailer from Mass/NY/Vt border.
Is there a good northern route through Vermont and New Hampshire that avoids the traffic backup entering Maine from the south on 95?

yes, there is, and Googlemaps is very handy for finding that route.
or, ask Pete, @glenfiddich, as he too is taking that route from his place.

Are you looking for the fast way or the scenic way? My route there from Craftsbury skirts the Canadian border in a couple places but is incredibly scenic and mostly sparsely traveled. My route back takes me through tourist-choked Conway NH to ride the Kancamagus Hwy but early on Sunday morning before most of the tourists are mobile.
Neither would be as much fun pulling a trailer but if you fill in a few details on what you’re looking for I can suggest a few options. Or if you need a safe place to leave your trailer so you can do the last five hours on your rig that could probably be arranged
Pete
I’m hoping to get the rig finished (except paint) and put some shake down miles on it before the rally. If that happens I may ride the whole way and always prefer scenic. My brother is trailering his bike so I have that option if needed.
Looking at maps today, how would the Conway route be on a Thursday morning?

Dave, having lived in that area, I can tell you that Conway is busier than most places, even on a Thursday morning, but...it is doable.
That area of Conway has been infiltrated by tourists for several years now, but a morning, or actually mid-morning ride through there shouldn't be too bad.
Pete @glenfiddich, I used to live in St. J.....or St. Johnsbury, but that was more than 30 years ago. Used to ride all those roads in Northern Vermont and Northern New Hampshire quite a bit....long ago.

Weekday mornings are always better than weekends or afternoons on popular roads like the Kancamagus (112). You wouldn’t actually be going through Conway, just around a mile of possibly heavy traffic heading into town before you turn off to continue east

Afternoon all, Getting closer to this years rally so if you intend to vote for officers this year by mail, please get them heading my way so they are here in time. If you are planning to vote at the rally, I have ballots available. Safe traveling to all.
