Posted by: @scott-hMy favorite part of moving a project out is having the elbow room and freedom to move about w/o damaging or scratching something expensive.
You know it. Spent the day getting the band back together, I've never been sentimental about my wheeled vehicles coming or going, but all these tool boxes spent a good part of their time putting food on the table for a couple Wives, four Sons, and myself. So, they deserve their space. They have it now!
Well deserved. 😎

Back at it. We had our first fake spring today, heavy fog in the morning, 67 and sunny in the afternoon. First real mock up, since there are no slip joints, clamps, or u-bolts in this design, I don't leave myself much room to screw up. Everything bolted right up to the frame mounts easily, so moving forward.
Looking Good! 😎

This is the time when I throw what I have together, and stare at it for a while.
A comparison of the two chassis. The first was built 2 inches from the oil cooler, it is 32 inches center to center of the tires, and the lead is 14 some inches.
The new one is built 6 inches from the cooler, is 40 inches center to center of the tires, has three different lead positions, set at 8.5 inches here.
Chris, I believe that you might find it better to have the sidecar wheel closer to 12" lead, rather than the 8.5" it's set at now.
The 6" off from the oil cooler is great, and the 40" center to center of the wheels is good.
You do it your way, as it appears that you certainly know what you are doing.

Thank you Miles, appreciate the input. The 8.5 is the default number, (a Harley number, but this ain't no Harley) all those extra holes are so I can also go to a 10.75, or 13 inch lead when tuning this, using the same axle block.Posted by: @miles-ladueChris, I believe that you might find it better to have the sidecar wheel closer to 12" lead, rather than the 8.5" it's set at now.

I already know, just by gazing at it, that I'm changing the upper struts, I tried it on for size, and my clunky hockey stick right foot, (fused ankle) hits everything. Just bought a tube notcher, so I might get artsy on this thing. My happy place!
Nope, really don't know what I'm doing, just winging it, makes it fun though.

Chris, for a guy that is just "winging it", you are doing a very good job.
You must be drinking a lot of Red Bull, with all this "winging" you are doing.

Ha! My ticker Dr. recently asked me to moderate my excessive caffein consumption. So no more Red Bull and V8 Juice breakfast cocktails for me. I have discovered iced coffee though, but I won't tell her about that.
Drink high end arabica coffees and espresso brewed forms for high flavor and lower caffeine content.

I like this new wider version. Keep seeing a picture in my head of a dog with goggles, sitting on it. 😎 😉

I offered, and got an "ah....nope".
The chassis is back on the table. Finishing up the last pieces for it, and, as always, I made some changes to the design. The front crossmember is now from rectangle stock, the rear is 6.5 inches longer than the original chassis, and a rear crossmember has been added. Due to the increased length, I had to push the "GROW" button on my little table.
That is a seriously nice welding/fit-up table. 🤩 So nice to work with quality tools.

The basic chassis got tacked up today. The piece leaning on the table weighed in at 32 pounds, right on track. However, my weird arms do have a load bearing limit, which brought back a memory.
When I got home from the hospital the first time, I was in a wheelchair, and there was a hospital bed in my living room. The only way to move me between the two, was with a small crane called a Hoyer. I thought one would be ideal to have in the garage to help me do things going forward. But not enough room then. But with the Mustang gone, well there is plenty of room now. So, a Hoyer is on my tool list again.
