On the topic of pairing and using Sena SMH10.  Is it possible to use both intercom and listen to things playing from one's phone?  Every time I try it is one or the other.  And getting my unit to pair with Karen's is about six rounds of pressing both buttons at the same time.

Thane, the short answer is YES.

But the longer explanation must be given in person, this Friday.

Great input!  Thanks Dane @ben-franklin 👍

I have an old Samsung Note 4.  Was thinking about mirroring it to the current cell phone, because it is pretty rugged.  Tried a mirroring app, but it is very heavy with advertisements, and I didn't have the patience to wade through to get setup.  So I'll rely on the Zumo and keep the phone for backup.

I used the Zumo Trip Planner app to setup three separate days travel for the trip out to Canning Cove.  Not as easy as Google maps, but reasonable, and no internet/bluetooth required so that is a plus.

National Park Service has an interactive map of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail.  I should be able to use that to glean addresses for stops on route to put into the Zumo.  It will be fun to experiment with.  https://www.nps.gov/lecl/planyourvisit/maps.htm

It would be fun to do a ride in the stunning AZ mountains. 🍻

You already know I need visuals and hands on to learn anything!

Oh, and donut holes help with retention.

Every device wants us to pair through it.  GPS wants everything paired through it.  Phone wants it all paired through it.  Cardo (unit I have) wants everything paired through it.

In order for me to get things to work, I ended up pairing everything through the Cardo.  But SYZ doesn't have an intercom, and thankfully the only pairing it wants are two boots on the footpegs, and two hands on the bars.  It doesn't care if I even have a tooth, blue or otherwise.

I can handle that (for the most part).  😎

Friday Seminar with Miles sounds like the way to go! 👍

So I got the iphone and cardo paired to the android tablet for gps. I can hear the tablets gps talking in my helmet. That's good. But I can't talk into the cardo mic and get Siri to respond. Shouldn't I be able to do that?

Seems like it might be one or the other is the dominant one?

No idea about Siri.  I use Goofus.  Better match for me.

So far Zumo is batting 500. Two right destinations & two wrong destinations.  The second I ended up using Google Maps to get there.

I do like some of the features, like bringing up towns enroute, which shows if they have gas & food.  Or food that gives you gas.   Two quick button presses.  Makes a quick glance when figuring stops.   Also noticed I haven't overshot any turns.  Using Google navigation I'll invariably over shoot turns.

At this point in time if I could only have one gps, it would be the phone.  Jury is still out, and it is fun to learn the Zumo.  I'm sure it is better than my meager skillset shows.

Side note:  Made it to Council Grove, but  decided to get a hotel for the night.  It was a hot, long & sweaty day.   The National Agricultural Center & Hall of Fame ( https://www.aghalloffame.com/) in Bonner Springs, KS was awesome.  One of the museum guides saw me pull in, and asked if he could check out the sidecar.  Of course!  When he came back in, we got to talking.  Next thing he's introducing me to the guys who do the restorations & maintenance.  Then gives a personal tour with some very cool insights.  What a cool place, and well worth the time.  I was curious as to what an agricultural "Hall of Fame" would be.  It all made perfect sense once I started reading the plaques.  Pretty epic, and a great synopsis of the advancements in farming,  harvest, nutrition & education in our country.

The old adage, " It's not what you know, but what you ride that counts".  Went double today.   I had stopped this morning at a convenience store for an orange juice. I was standing outside by the rig drinking the orange juice, when a gentleman stopped by to ask about it. We get to talking and he invites me on a tour of his custom forklift manufacturing plant. He's the owner of Versa-Lift. It's a pretty amazing forklift. I've seen them on job sites. Huge capacity.  Built specifically to fit a customer's application. Had a great tour, met the crew who you could tell are very proud of what they do.  If you like really cool engineered equipment this might be right up your alley. https://www.versa-lift.com/

Tomorrow morning I'll be at the rally. 😎

Pictures:. *Parked in front of the Versa-Lift plant. * Me being a goober on a combine that just might be older than me.  * The first rural postal vehicle.  Next time my postman complains his AC doesn't work, I'll show him this.

Herrington Inn & Suites over in Herrington (about 1/2 hour west of you all).

I was at the DQ in Council Grove, and about falling asleep in the booth.  Thankfully a chocolate Chip Blizzard was staving off a snore fest. 😎

Decided a good shower & dry bed would be a smarter move.

Yesterday Thane Spat & I rode over to check out Atomic Annie.  Beautiful ride.  SR57 through the Flint Hills is an epic twisty rolling road, in excellent shape.

Short steep hike up to the top of the mound where the gun is perched.  Pretty interesting.  Also a great view of Fort Riley.  Home of "The Big Red One."

Who would ever think about coming to Kansas without visiting the "World's Largest Ball of Twine".  That was today's side trip on the way to Lincoln, NE.

What I didn't realize is that people can still add twine to the ball.  It is constantly growing.  Being a Sunday and me not having properly prepared for this pilgrimage, I was not able to increase the girth of the ball.  But at least I wasn't stuck in the back of a station wagon fighting with siblings, while listening to Dad threatening to turn the wagon around and take us home.  😎

So I did manage to enjoy a bit of Americana.  I'll bet the yearly festival is a hoot.

Side note;  On the way out to the rally, the odometer turned over 75,000 miles.  Noticed the speedo reads fast, the trip odometer & mileage odo read slow, but not at the same rate of slow.  How BMW managed that is an engineering marvel of mystery.  🤣

Maybe if you used a few squirts of... Marvel Mystery Oil....it would realign the German armature movement of the trip odo, and the mileage odo, so that they are in synch with the speedometer. Razz

Perhaps there is an incantation involving yeast, water and hops that will make it realign with cosmic forces?

How does the zumo do in the sunlight? Can you see it very well?  I have to hold my hand to block the sun so I can see my android tablet sometimes. I never tried adjusting the angle though. I know you can get anti-glare screens for them. Other than that the unit performed well. No missed turns either. But I purposely missed a turn. There was about a 2-3 second redirect. How long does it take your zumo to redirect you?

Screen seems easy to see.  It is on about an 80 degree angle.  It does take a few seconds to redirect.
