I am waiting for the rest of my parts so I can begin installing my Liberty sidecar on my 09 Electraglide. Any words of wisdom from others that have done this will be much appreciated. Thanks

Rick,
Did you get the (4th) frame mount bracket and strut from Pete?

I had the strut, just needed the weld on nut for 09.
Do you have to pull the rear exhaust to remove the swing arm plate to install lower rear mount? Thought maybe I could modify a wrench.
Should have my parts from harley this week. Thanks Lonnie

I did not have to take off my exhaust to put on the lower rear mount but my bike is a lot older (1993) so I don't know what the latest exhaust systems look like. Does the Liberty use the three stock Harley mounts plus a fourth mount at the upper rear? Thanks, Dave

Yes, there is one weld on bracket that goes just in front of the seat as shown.

I've had the exhaust system off so many times I don't remember. It seems to be in the way of most of the work I do on the bike.
Sometimes I can get clearance by just loosening the exhaust for finger clearance.

I did a Liberty on a 2005 Electra Glide. I did have to pull the exhaust to install the rear mount. Now I am installing Tri-Glide trees. Almost done and saw yesterday the clutch cable is being pulled when I place the bars to full right. I see HD has a longer clutch cable but I hope I can reroute the cable. Otherwise the exhaust comes off again.

I have raked trees on my 2010 FLHX. When replacing my handlebars with 2" extended bars I had the same problem. The HD shop said Harley doesn't have 2" longer clutch cable so they ordered a Drag Specialties 2" over cable ass'y. It was still very tight so I now have a Drag Specialties cable that is 4" over stock HD.
This allows better routing with softer bends for longer cable life.

1st, I hope I can just reroute the current cable, but if not I'll check out the one you mentioned.

If it's tight it will pull the plastic cover loose at the tranny and start leaking oil (mine did) or lack clutch cable free play which will wear on the clutch plates. Better a bit too long than a bit short. Don't bother to get the expensive braided Stainless steel ones. They are only braided at the top end. The rest is black plastic covered.
