Emergency! Broken down on highway
I'm on a trip from picking up a California sidecar from Albany, New York to Houston, texas. I'm about 40 miles from Memphis, TN. In Tunica,Ms. I hit a pot hole last night in a construction area and now my sidecar is almost touching the tire/wheel. I only have less than 1/2" clearance. I do not have power to the control switch that lifts/lowers the sidecar (for turns) I couldn't check it last night on the freeway. I'll check this morning for (hopefully) a blown fuse??? To get power back to lift it up an inch or two. Looking for any help or suggestions what I might do... Or is there a sidecar mechanics that might be familiar with this in this part of the country? Looking underneath the sidecar I saw a cylinder looking device next to the shock absorb with a couple of wires. Assuming this might be what's wrong. Any help is more than appreciated. I'll check this for about ever 30 minutes or please call me at 713-826-9871 cell. Thanks Mike Ray- Houston, Texas. Mnray@aol.com
A hot wire to one of the screw jack leads will operate it to get the rig raised unless the failure of the jack is the problem.
Check for fuses first though.

Don't have any resources in that area, but if you end up needing some help with a more permanent fix on the way back, we've got a couple of good hack shops in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. You're closer to us than to Houston from where you are now. Good luck with getting her home.
The tilt assemble will need two wires hooked up not just one. You hook positive to one side, negative to the other and it will move in one direction. If it is moving in the wrong direction then reverse the wires. You can also remove one end of the actuator and screw it in or out to where you want it to be and then bolt it back in place.
You can give me a call if need be.

Thanks, everyone is being so helpful. I've had a sidecar for about 6 years. Just bought a new rig out of Albany, New York riding back to Texas. My last Calif sidecar did not have the lift. I going out to check it out now. Thanks everyone.
