Changing the front tire on my off road P/U, the DR650 tugging a Ural hack.
Old one spooned off easy, New tire went on easy but wouldn't set the bead.
Inflated deflated and resoaped 6 times, no joy. Finally the tube exploded at the instant the bead set.
This morning I drove the 110 mile round trip to get a heavy duty tube.
Soaped every thing and spooned it on. Inflated. Still one area won't set. 50 psi, no set. Rubber hammer, no set.
Okay what do you lube a rubber with to make it really slick? KY weiner schlider of course.
Deflated and fingered in a couple of globs at the area that wouldn't set.
Reinflated and watched as the tire squirmed into place so that the raised line was finally visible all round both sides.
Since the stuff is water soluble I don't anticipate any problems with it damaging the tube or tire.

I do not use soap, as it will corrode any metal. I use furniture spray polish like Pledge. You have to make sure the tube does not get outside the tire while beading. Is it a really hard tire?

Problem with WD 40 it softens the rubber.

I don't remember which one, but one of the companies making tire changers recommends using Pledge. I tried it on the last change, and it worked great. Within about ten minutes after spraying, it gets sticky, so you need to stick with it once you spray. I was able to mount a run flat Dunlop easily.

WD40? You're kidding, for me its the worst industrial lie people ever set up on.
After a certain time it will gum up and destroy any neumatic valve or fine mechanism.
And on rubber? It will start to swell as rubber boots in diesel, Ask the service station employees.
I stay with soap. And why not neutral liquid soap like Bactex did work too for me. After a couple days in the sun even this dried out.
