Battery Cover Panel Retaining lugs

Hay Guys and gals
So i have a couple of panel lug points that have come away from the battery side panel itself, thankfully no damage visible on the outside of the panel.
What is the best way to reattach the lugs, assuming that it can be done?
1995 Honda Goldwing GL1500SE and Champion Escort sidecar.
Also on the lookout for a replacement seat must be good condition no tears rips etc. Seat cover thoughts anyone?
Steve and Sam, oops sorry Miles, Sam and Steve

Not sure if this fits the bill but would a ¼ turn fastener dzus work?
Illegitemi non carborundum est!

Thanks Thane, i want to refit the original mounting lugs if i can.
I have seen people using a soldering iron and plasctic cable ties melted to fuse both pieces back together

I've had good luck using super-glue and baking soda. My experience is both need to be fresh, and the super-glue needs to be good quality, otherwise it makes a glumpy mess. I've made a few of those glumpy messes trying to be cheap. lol
YouTube video how it works:

Sam & Steve, if you are referring to the ABS plastic lugs that are molded in as part of the side cover.....that has those lugs slide into the black rubber grommets on the frame, then your best bet is to find a replacement side cover.
Yes, the lugs can be hot glued back in place....if you have the broken off lugs. Personally I would use an industrial strength super glue.
If you don't have the broken off lug(s), you could make new lugs, then super glue then to the backside of the side cover.
Let me check out something for you......a local hole-in-the-wall used motorcycle shop in my small town has a Goldwing 1500 sitting on the debris covered showroom floor, and I may be able to rob the side cover....and seat....from this bike.
Again....MAY be able to.
I will let you know.
There are replacement seat covers available for your bike.....just have to find one.

I have the lugs fortunately. I love small towns
The other fuses side panel would be good too, one ABS lug broken off there.
My question about seat covers should have been explained better. Are they worth the price and effort to fit them?
I do have some nice small clamps to superglue lugs.

Steve, I have replaced the seat cover on one of my 1500 and was very happy with the results. I will say it takes a bit of a challenge but I was pleased with the looks. as long as your seat foam in in good shape it's well worth the money in my opinion.

@aceinsav Thanks for the feedback =) Am i right in thinking that a good heavy duty stapler would be needed?
I know Miles is having a look locally as another seat may be an option, but no hurry at all there.

Steve, I have yet to talk to the guy that has the local hole-in-the-wall used motorcycle shop, to see if he will let the seat and side panel go from his GL-1500, but.....having done several seat covers myself, what YOU need is an electric stapler, or a pneumatic stapler, because using a manual stapler is not going to get the staples embedded into the hard plastic of the seat pan.
I have an electric stapler I can send you way, or...order one on Amazon. Most likely you will want the 3/8" staples...as the 1/4" staples are too short, and the 1/2" staples are too long. The staples used also need to have the sharp pointed ends...not the flat cut ends on the staples.

Thanks Miles
Yeah i would not use a manual stapler for that. Information gratefully accepted =)

Very important that you use stainless staples.
Miles , you might think that 1/2 is too long but that’s what I used for both seats I recovered and I didn’t have any issues. however I have to agree that the 3/8 might have been just as good 😊

Steve, I checked with the local shop this morning, and he has sold that Goldwing 1500. Therefore, there is no seat or sidecovers for me to misappropriate, then send to you.
