Winter shut down
It seems I have a torn rotator cuff So I am considering just locking Rigs up for winter. Maybe get some work done on them. I have some must do trips on next years list and do not want to miss them.
Still waiting on another Othro visit and MRI. Seems we are now in a third world healthcare system waiting on an MRI.
The person that setups up MRI works out of home. Her voice mail is full and can take no messages. Email gets no response.
Administrator that is suppose to deal with things like this has voice mail but does not return calls.
This is so, unfortunately, true. Everyone keeps saying they are short of staff but it often appears that they don't seem to be doing anything about it.
I must agree with Smitty and Roger, and because of that, my "likes" above are in support of their posts.
However, a lot of the shortcomings of healthcare are also dependent upon where one lives, what kind of healthcare insurance one has, and population, or lack thereof, in any particular demographic area that contributes to these healthcare issues.
Smitty, if you were in my area, I would take care of that for you, as my doctor listens to me, and if I simply send a message to him telling him that I want an MRI....he immediately sends the referral, and within 72 hours I am on the schedule. It's one of those issues of having friends in high places, and knowing who to know.
In 2013 when I was struck by Lightning whilst riding my motorcycle, direct hit to the helmet, and spent 2 nights in the ICU Burn Unit in the major hospital in Seattle, they did every test you can think of to see how my system reacted to 200,000 volts. But 3 months later, my wife asked me if I had been noticing any cognitive issues, and we discussed it for a bit. The next day I was on the phone TELLING my doctor to refer me for an MRI, and he did so...immediately.
What the MRI showed was 8 spotted scars across the brain, from ear to ear, where the Lightning had skipped across my brain from right to left.
Before the Lightning Strike I used to look like the younger version of Robert Redford, now I look and act like the most modern version of Gary Busey.

This is the new and better way of doing things today. I log on and it took about 2 hours before I could respond to this page. I must have a good healthcare plan as if I have any problem, I was giving a direct number to call if I have any questions, and it works no wait online to talk to anyone. I always get the same person. Somethings improve over the years, but a lot of things seem they are going backwards. Hope things work out for you Smitty.
Hope all goes well, and soon for you Smitty. 🙂 Coming from "The State of Outdoors", joint injuries are so common arthroscopy is handled at the local Starbucks. Get a large hot drink, and your body repaired in the drive through. Got to keep those ski resorts busy! ... lol
Folks in our little hamlet are lucky. The Doctor is out hunting. So no one gets sick/hurt/damaged until after hunting season is over. First aid kits are well stocked. Tetanus shots, physicals and first aid courses are updated. We all pray that the hunts are very successful. 😉
Hope everyone has good stuff to stay busy with over winter. I've got some enhancements scheduled for the rig. Will be posting up, when parts start arriving. Look forward to input from all you experienced sidecarists. 🙂
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃
Had a talk with higher up Admin yesterday
Simple truth ,no one wants to work. They can not get people to work. Those they have do not show up if you don't like it they quit.
They all want to work out of their home and never come in.
Up side I have an ultra sound on the 15th. Talked with the Doctor I will be seeing. I am healing pretty fast on my own right now.
Decide it was not worth going to see him until the Ultra sound is done and he has a chance to look at it.
I have doubts it is torn.
Where are you located, Smitty?
I thought I was done with the sidecar this spring. Rotator cuff. I could go for a half hour at a stretch and then stop. Until the pain subsided.
{insert dramatic violin music}
Then I got board certified as a sort of expert by U-toob. I found a bunch of stretches and excercises specifically for the shoulder on YouTube and it's showing results.
I had about five years of care giving and enforced inactivity. Still ongoing. Lost 40 pounds in that five years. This was after a stroke in 2016 You have to keep moving or things waste away. So , I hate it, but exercises do work. Enough so that I'm planning big for next summer.
Another thing, stop at a Harley place and grab some touring bars. They figured out comfortable bars a long time ago.
As I have an almost completely worn out body. Nothing serious just worn out.. Vitamin I is about all that keeps me going. Ha! Exercise and just keep going is how I roll.. Not sure how much longer I can keep it up but in the mean time. I found this activity in the winter as it keeps the upper body in shape for herding the Sidecars in the summer. Riding of the torture device after keeps the important parts ticking along. The faint of heart need not apply. LOL
Still waiting for VA looks like I may get in the 13th.
Many of the doctors and staff at the VA have been taken away and sent to the boarder . Those choosing not to go quit.
