John's other rig, on the Blue Ridge Parkway coming back from Sidecars in the Smokies two years ago.

Oh NO....MJ...that means that you and John have a total of four (4) sidecar rigs.
Question of the Day: How many sidecar rigs are too many sidecar rig ?

Working on it.....
Darn tootin!
Illegitemi non carborundum est!

@miles-ladue As long as there is garage space, you can't have too many. I'm sure there are others with more than four. @thane-lewis Yeah, I know. There's another story to be written.... 😎

A Day Of Long Cuts & Fun:
The goal was to use forest service roads, and county dirt roads to cut off a lot of road travel. Ended up doing about 60 miles on dirt, and 300 on pavement.
Uinta mountains are a bit unique in the U.S. in that this range runs east to west rather than north to south. Really pretty, as both sides are forested, with huge meadows, and lots of small lakes. Most of which have access for camping and fishing.
Was pretty awesome to see the volume of folks out camping and enjoying the beautiful weather.
First opportunity to get off road was to follow Soapstone Basin off of UT-35. Cutting off travel through Francis and Kamas, UT.
About six miles in the mountains open up to this stunning meadow area. Wild Flowers were out in a carpet, and the smell was awesome.
Same point looking northeast towards the Unita Peaks.
About 24 miles later this trail system connects to the Mirror Lake Byway. Stopped at Mirror lake to get this comparison photo.
July 9
Versus 6 weeks earlier:
From there it was on into Evanston, WY to get fuel for the rig, and for me.
Stopped in at my new favorite lunch stop. For Pete's Sake. Had a BLT with ham added on a fresh Asiago bagel. Chips and a fresh Ice Tea completed a most excellent lunch. Great stop, great service, great food, great price.
Had I brought a lunch, and 5 gallons of fuel the run into Evanston could have been avoided. But I'd have missed out on an awesome lunch break.
After fueling up it was back south on the Mirror Lake Byway, to catch the next dirt road "long cut" to Robertson, WY.
Wyoming county roads can be a pretty fun adventure. I've found some pretty cool stuff through this area on earlier rides.
About half way through the approximate 36 miles of dirt county roads, looking west.
Wyoming is definitely Big Sky Country. Summer afternoons can be a crap-shoot regarding rain. Today it threatened rain, but didn't get caught up in any.
From Robertson, it was the normal ride back over the Uintas on the Dinosaur Highway, and back into the megatropolis of Roosevelt, UT.
There is one more "long cut" that could have been used called Red Cloud Loop. That would bypass Vernal, UT.
It was getting late, so I skipped it for this trip. Another opportunity for excitement and adventure.
About 370 miles and 9 hours total. Fun day!

My pleasure MJ!
Hopefully if folks wander out this way, they'll have an idea of what kind of fun is available in Northern Utah. 😎 We do a great job of showing all the greatness of southern Utah, but other than winter skiing we don't show off our north eastern part of the state much. With Interstate 80 running right through, if folks knew more about what fun is available all year, they may enjoy stopping for a day or more, and doing some of their own exploring.

Posted by: @miles-ladueEXCELLENT pictures and write-up Scott. I truly LOVE your SYZ sidecar rig. It's the Minion of all sidecar rigs.

Minion is a great match for this rig. 🤩 I'm incredibly fortunate to have it. Thanks go out to the patience and support of the sidecar community when I was asking all those "newb" questions to help decide on the purchase. 🍻

Basically wherever I can reach without a highway. Between me, the sidecar and the dog, the honda shadow thats doing the pulling doesn't get over 70mph. Mostly spots to eat and dog parks in nearby towns. Took one trip up by sonora pass to let the snow dog run wild but ended up preferring the truck and bringing more than one dog at a time after that.

So we went only a few miles but our hack got a lot of smiles at the Montesano Historic car show today. We encouraged kids and folks to take a picture if they showed interest.

Inspired by Jan Daub, a ride of colossal proportion seemed like a reasonable thing to do on a Wednesday. Decided a ride from the Uinta Basin to Parris and back should be doable in a day. At least the roads are paved, and in pretty good shape. 😎
No ride of this epic proportion should start without a solid breakfast. So stop #1 was Wild Sage coffee House in Roosevelt, UT. Great food, great service, great prices. Had a 3 egg western omelet a big glass of orange juice, and a coffee. Sorry no picture, as I was hungry enough to eat the cell phone. It stayed in a pocket for safety reasons.
route started by heading west on UT-40 over Daniels Summit. About an hour south of Park City, it is a great place to rent snow mobiles in the winter with miles of open space to enjoy.
Then it was a run west down UT-189 through a stunning canyon along side the Provo river and the center of Provo Utah. The route went right through the middle of Brigham Young University (BYU). Short run down I-15 with final arrival at Parris... Parris RV that is. Okay, so not near as epic as Jan's ride (not even one day of Jan's ride lol). But it is the start of what should be a pretty fun future. 🤩
Wanted to ensure the Screaming Yellow Zonker would fit comfortably inside a new Toy Hauler (more to come on that). The return trip was UT-6 to Utah 191 up over Indian pass. There is a short cut on an old, rough, potholed cattle road called Emma Park Rd. Starts with a bridge over the rail lines out of Price, UT. Fun little road for a bit of spirited riding.
On the north side of Indian Pass Summit, there is a big road construction project going on. UT-191 supports the majority of oil tankers and some of slurry tankers from the mining operations coming out of the Uinta Basin. They keep this road in excellent shape. Waiting for the lead car to take us through the construction zone was a good opportunity to stretch out the body, and meet some folks.
Beautiful day for a ride, even if it wasn't to Paris France. 😉

Did a short run down to the LBS open house. Had a great visit and had a look at the latest offerings the boys are putting together.. Mike is putting together quite the team and I expect good things to happen. They even had the new Ural prototype NEO there ???? Several of the Pakmules were available for test rides as well. Not sure what to say as I only have my Big Beemer/Overland to compare to. Not sure I would want to do a trip like I just did to Tuk on one but I am sure it would do just fine abet at a slower pace. Pictures of the event are else where, mostly Facebook.
Had a great burger at a little diner in Acme. Had stopped there on the way down so I knew the food was good. I got off the Freeway as soon as I could but even the secondary highways are Busy.. Just too many people on the road for me..
Was happy to get back into Canada and a bit more of a relaxed pace.. At least in the direction I was going.. Traffic was backed up for miles heading into the city.. I got off the freeway as soon as I could.
I had camped in Manning Park on the way down and on the way home, to break up the trip, Plus I also camped at Mike's.
The last morning I found a nice little coffee shop in Hedley, where I took a break and plotted my course home..
Gravel always seem to call my name and this is probably one of the best views in southern BC. The climb up to the Nickel Plate Mine.
Just to prove I was there and add Sidecar content.
Stole this off of LBS's FB page-- The Ural Proto type. Cute but not sure it is the production ready version yet.
One of my stops as I managed to just about stay on gravel all the way home- it only added 4 hours to my ride :).

First sidecar ride for the new "monkey." Seems like she enjoyed it. When we returned to the parking lot, she ran right up to the rig.
Bit of a difference between now:
and then:
Harnessed up, and ready to hit the trail:
We took a nice slow ride out to a wildlife management area nearby (a place we'll take the sidecar to hunt a couple days this fall).
Then had a good amount of exploring before heading back to the rig.
Short ride with fun and excitement. Hopefully she gets the association as we do more stuff like this.
