"What did you do with your Sidecar today?"
We drove around town and did a little shopping at Office Depot.
Today I got up early and headed out on the rig. Driving to no place in particular. Picked up a friend and drove him around a bit to see how it handled with a passenger....much easier to drive. After dropping him off I continued the adventure to nowhere and returned logging just over 125 miles of skill building and enjoying the beautiful weather. I should have done this years ago, very enjoyable, very fun and I never have to put my foot down!

Crossed the line from 'wannabe' to 'noob'.
Two days of classes, took off east, then south from Auburn WA To Carson WA, 186 miles, mostly twisties. We all had a grand time, although I had to work my backside off π
Did you stay and watch that banana car "peel" out?
Taking a break from my morning ride. Want to get back out while the weather is PERFECT for motorcycling here in Maryland. Got in about 50+ miles this morning practicing those turns....getting better too.
So I finished up todays ride by picking up my friend Flore for her first sidecar ride. She was all smiles, no screaming. Total for todays ride was 68 miles. Oh, I should have said Flore is from Paris. Paris France and not Paris Kentucky. If you don't know the difference go to my blog, this will remove any confusion.

Have a safe riding day! Ciao!
Thursday I completed my cross country and return trip. Drove to Tampa, FL from Wenatchee, WA then up to Jacksonville, My wife and Granddaughter flew in and we played tourist up the coast to Washington, DC. My wife flew back and the "grand" and I drove back across the country again doing the tourist thing. The last day was the longest, 715 miles and 14 hours on the saddle.

Rob, sounds like a great trip!! Seems to me this isn't the first cross country trip for you. You going again? How about writing something to send in to Martin for publication in the Sidecarist?

First trip was with the Vespa p150 with the cozy sidecar.
This trip was with the Goldwing and Hannigan.
I have a commitment to a magazine for an article as soon as I get that done I'll try to work up something for the Sidecarist
I cut the price on both of my rigs, for sale here.
$1,000. on the Beemer/URAL and $1,500. on the Harley/Spalding combo.
Can't drive them anymore, gotta sell them.

Possibly the first sidecar "meeting" of the Century in Costa Rica.
William Venegas built his second self designed sidecar for his new 250 Jailing.
Visited him with the Ural on the other side of Central Valley in Santa Ana. His invalid daughter weights only 30kg, the sidecar only 40kg.
He made am interesting lever construction with 2 shocks in the sidecar for a softer ride for his daughter. Amasing the rig is stiff and confortable for her.
We went up into a steep caΓ±on. The Jailing ( solo sprockets) suffered less then the Ural.
Last year we traveled twice with three wheeled companionship in USA and Canada. Today was the first time in Costa Rica to travel with another rig (2004 i got Jolly Roger 2) A Meeting. There is always a first time.
Photos later.

PS Bad notice the owner of the other Ural rig in my neighbourhood passed by early this week. Never has a change to met him in perdΓ³n. Not a good moment to visit his son.
PPS: Next day Monday morning I went on the tracks of Quijote: No way to do it with a rig. No way someone gets me to repeat it without pig's gear and winch worse in rain. π

Yes: Wow! Looking forward to the full story.
From our weekend ride thru East Texas while I shuttled Hugh's rig for him:

Rebuilt my main hack (Romet K 125cc + custom sidecar frame + Velorex body) in more Russian/Demilitarized style and for more cargo space. Also strenghtened suspension and did many things that I don't remember all of them. Two weeks of tinkering. Then did 2300km trip with Little Mi as pilot and photographer. 8 days. 8th Romet Fans Rally, then free ride with visiting differentinteresting places. Narrow Track Steam Loco museum, ancient stone circles, Tuchola Forests National Park and many more. Now after this distance, I must make some finish jobs, mount windshields and paint a sidecar&trunks with the same green as bike. I couldn't do it before Rally because of lack of time.
Will post some more pics as I find card reader
Almost whole frame is new (plate says "Test Drive" π ):
Rear side trunks made of waterproof epoxy-glass boxes:
Some realignment after first miles:
Took my grandson to see the Mookini. pronounced Moo ooh Kee nee
A 1700 year old large heiau. That is a sacred place where ancient Hawaiians performed human sacrifices until the death of Kamehameha when the old Kapu laws ceased to be used.
The Heiau was rededicated to Lono, a more benign diety. It is still watched over by a Kahuna and cared for by her ohana. A beautiful place and one of the most sacred on the island.
The birthplace of the king is a little more than a quarter mile away in a straight line.
These places are only accessible by a vehicle with high ground clearance or a rental car. I on the other hand, brave the (road) on my DR650 with Ural sidecar. Even that bumps rock with the under frame in places.
