Velorex 565 questions?
I am inching my way closer to getting funds together for a rig, and am fairly sure that I want to use a BMW airhead (R100, or R90/6) with subframe as the tug because of my familiarity with the breed, and, if I somehow end up deciding that sidecar life is not for me, I may keep the airhead (I need another one in my garage anyway) and sell the sidecar. Anyhow, due to some mobility issues with my wife and dog, I think that I need to look at easy-entry models of sidecars with either a wide opening (such as Ural/DNEPR/CJ chairs) or else a flip open top one, like the old Sputnik or Velorex 565 tour models. I understand that there are other nice flip top rigs out there, but they may be either too heavy or of sufficiently different in style to maybe look a bit out of place on an old airhead, I think. Finally, my question: I virtually NEVER see any Velorex 565 Tour models on any bikes, nor see them for sale in the classifieds, etc. I *think* that they may fit what I need, but I can't find one to eyeball it, and I don't know if the relative scarcity of these models is a regional thing, or there is something about them that folks are avoiding, which I am clueless about. Are there any good/bad points about a Velorex 565 Tour that I should consider/know before I get to the point of trying to order one or set one up?
Many thanks in advance for any help/advice,
Mike
The 565 Tour models are popular enough that they are out of stock and on back order from the distributor.
I have a new one in stock but it has been uncrated and set up for installation.
I'll crate it for shipping for the Velorex MSRP ($3,899.00).
Here are a few 565 rigs.

Thank you for the pics, Lonnie !
Do they seem to ride reasonably smooth/comfortable seat? Are they basically the same/identical interior dimension as the 562/3 as far as passenger space goes or is the body any wider?
Looks like I may have to be patient if I want one of them.
Thank you for the offer to craete it up, etc. But I have to save up a few more nickels and dimes before I've got the proper amount in my hack fund. I would say if you get another customer looking for one please go ahead sand sell it to them and I'll talk to you about ordering one when I'm fully ready (financially). Depending on how my business goes, it may take a few months or a few weeks... kinda how the small business thing goes these days, ya know!
Thank you again,
Mike
I love mine. It is on a 98 Honda.
Don't overlook at 700 model as it has a flip front and should be easy to get into. Max
The model 700 definitely is roomy, but the style is not as much to my liking as the 565 is - though the 700 certainly has lots of room.
Perhaps this rig that is for sale near me has 'colored' my perception of the model 700 a bit negatively, though. While I do appreciate older Gold Wings, the green paint, froggie decals, and green ground effects lighting on this rig have me resisting the urge to go check this one out, mechanically it could be fine? I even do like green, but this shade just doesn't do anything good for me, even though I know paint can be changed with some time and effort - might be someone else's perfect cup of tea as it is, though.
