My rig runs a standard 12" trailer tire on the car, and I was wondering what tire pressure folks are running. I know what's written on the sidewall, but figure that is more than is need for this application of the tire. Thanks.

I like to run these under 20 PSI, you get a much better ride quality and you are not carrying any where near the load the tire is designed for. Keep an eye on wear. Depending on the sidecar you may also be able to fit a 145 12 automotive radial tire which I have been known to run these at even a lower pressure. Back in the 1980's I worked at a Yugo dealer, they ran a 145 tire if memory serves and on the rear they called for only 12psi as they were not carrying all that much weight. Of course you can also run the tires at the maximum on the side wall, the centers will wear faster and the ride will suck. Try different pressures and watch the tire wear.

Thanks, I'll play around with the air pressure.

I had a new tire installed and they filled it to the max, 90 lbs I believe, but my tire gauge would only read up to 50, and when I got it home I put it down to 45. I'll try some lower pressures next.

On my Escort I use 24 lbs, seem to give good ride and even wear. The prior owner's stated they used less than 20 like Jay stated, but they were both thin built and my wife and I are well nourished.

Thanks, I'm down to 30 lbs, ( in the tire - not me ) and we'll see how that goes.
