Hello everyone,
I will be moving from the Kansas City, Missouri area (Lee's Summit) to a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona in a few months. I was wondering if anyone has ever used or would recommend a company or individual who would haul my bike and sidecar to Chandler, Arizona.
Thanks,
Larry

Here's the guy I use. Cycle/Car Hauling from Carrolton, TX. 972-242-6578 Erv Borne. He was recommended to me by a motorcycle museum down there. He delivered a Goldwing and sidecar to me last November. San Diego, CA to northwestern Wisconsin. When I told him I wasn't in a huge rush, he quoted me $700. . He uses an open trailer. Some folks whine about that, but $700 was $459 cheaper than second place and it arrived safe and sound on the day he told me to expect it.
These were two separate pieces. The sidecar was not attached to the bike. No pallets, no fuel draining, all he asks is that tires are inflated and wheels roll.

We have used Daily Direct for cross country rig hauling. 1-800-HAULBIKE.
They use specially designed covered trailers made expressly for hauling motorcycles, trikes and hacks with lift gates and proper tiedown gear. Strictly roll-on pickup and roll-off at the destination with no draining of fluids, disconnecting batterys, palletizing or other labor involved. $20,000.00 damage insurance is also included.
They also haul for many of the high end custom bike Mfg'rs.
Bikes are handled with care by experienced drivers.

I shippep my sidecar from Portland OR to Sc for $350. Call Lenny 912-552-3994. He did me right, delivered as promised and in good shape. Did have some delays due to his wife's health condition. If you have a problem with that, you have issues. good luck!

The main problem I see with Uship is many of the carriers are individuals, not bonded carriers. Some have just pickups and I'm unsure of any insurance requirements.
OK for some cases, but I wouldn't recommend using that source for a prime outfit.

Lonnie (and others),
The guy I used (through Uship) had insurance, yes he used on open trailer, but my chair was crated so it didn't matter. Unless I miss my guess if you want to be a part of the UShip group you will have to provide proof of insurance and what ever other documentation they may require. UShip has a small "findersfee" which you as the customer will have to pay in order to accept a quote. You cannot contact the service provider prior to this. (As opposed to groups like servicemagic where the contractor buys the lead to be able to bid) You will be able to look at bidders profiles, look at their referrals and ask questions to satisfy your peace of mind.
Let me put it somewhat in perspective: UPS shipping I think was $2300; Yellow freight was $800 and I paid $350. The argument was also made that the big operators don't care what it is they haul and are less careful then the one man outfits. I can buy one hell of a lot of extra insurance and pay for a lot of repairs (if need be) with the difference. I would definitely not discount this means to transport anything, after all, you don't have to accept the bid 🙂
