I run Hayden adjusters but I modify mine so I could adjust it use Harley's adjuster instead of the shims he used. I also set it my way and only used one spring. It's being in there probably over 30 years, still looks good. As you see in an earlier post of the Harley set up. I my book it's a hit and miss as far as primary noise goes. Some run quiet and not so quiet. I think it has to do where their adjuster decides to lock in. I just had a new 25 in the other day, and you would not believe the noise it was making. Harley answerer would be no one runs stock exhaust put load muffler on it and the noise will go away. Me myself was never into loud exhaust mild OK not loud.

“Dad, I just turn up the radio when my car makes that noise” 😱

When I was a pup, I ran dual straight fishtails on my panhead. Set off car alarms leaving the bar.

I get agitated by loud pipes anymore 😂

I ran straight pipe shotguns on my '82 H-D  FLHS for the last 6 months that I owned that bike. I knew I was going to sell it, as I has a '85 FLHT-P on order with Modesto Harley-Davidson.  Thing was....I used to enter the Slow Race contests at every rally, and usually won, but those last 6 months, with that loud exhaust,  I  didn't idle my way through the Slow Race....I  was sitting on about half Throttle....and thereby disturbing my opponents.

I was a baaaaaad boy back then. Scared

These days, I  run relatively quiet exhaust  Nonoise

I guess I did it backwards, I ran mufflers on this from 81' to 92', when I sold it. Then my bikes seemed to get progressively louder through the years. Probably because my hearing got progressively worse through the years. They all sound quieter these days.
