I didn't say you were not knowledgeable or helpful. I said you were taking advantage of the groups generosity

Hi, I am among other things the Pres of the Ga Sidecar Club. We have members who have mounted sidecar to about anything, Sportsters are easy, so much frame. So as not to step on the USCA's turf to harshly, please go to our web page http://www.georgiasidcarclub.com or join our Facebook group and get connected with some locals who can help. Bluemoon Cycle in Norcross is also very well versed in sidecars and may have everything you need there, not cheap, but probably has what you need. Bluemoon is also a Hannigan and Ural dealer. The owner also used to race (may still) antique BMW sidecars.

That is a link to the clamp you need, or something like it. DMC, Hannigan and Motorvation sidecars all have better ones for about the same money. You need 3, probably 4.

Seat belts in a sidecar, that's a good one. In my Watsonian, since it is enclosed, I have a seat belt. In my Urals, since they are kinda smallish and wide open, I do not have seat belt. In that configuration I feel it is better to not be trapped if it flips and because of the size, one is better off having the ability to bail. IMHO only. Your's looks smaller than a Ural hack... Georgia has no seat belt law for sidecars. Helmets are required, period. Sidecars are under the exact same rules as motorcycles in Georgia, you can use the HOV lanes freely, the north Atlanta Lexis lanes freely (Peach Pass Still Required) and get to pay to ride (Peach Pass) in the Express Lexus Lanes south of town...

Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your replies....You all...and I stress everyone of you are very helpful...
If I may tell you a little story....
I have always wanted to be a Harley chick since I was little....I was born with a deformed leg, and have had a prosthesis since I was 4 yrs old....my first manual bike was a three wheel, but I had the artificial leg sitting on top of the fender of the front wheel..lmao..... I was thrilled when I found out Harley has it to where the clutch can be made to where it can be automatic. SO I went into Harley dealership a month ago...told them I would love to purchase a Harley with a trike kit, and the klutch automatic.....the salesman told me how much it would cost me, and said lets do it...I assumed..(never assume) that it was all included in my payment...NOPE......I was approved for a Harley with no accomodations....The trike kit was like 5000, and the automatic shift was 2000...so here I have a brand new bike 2017 which I cannot drive.
Someone suggested to buy a side car...and that would be my extra wheel, and with my daughter who loves to ride, it would help out (when not riding I will be using weights to keep it down......SO I was fortunate to find this sidecar for sale, and want to make sure it can be securely fastened on my bike and the automatic klutch put on, and learn how to 1....be able to enjoy my bike on the road, and 2...enjoy it with my daughter....
Let me tell you, when I found out what I ONLY purchased and not being able to drive it yet....I was frustrated, but thought...its only a short road block........but someone told me about sidecars..and this wonderful site.....and I read how you all were friendly, and how much joy one can get taking someone along on the bike without feeling uncomfortable...and for that I thank you...
Again thank you for all your suggestions!!
Sincerely
Tina Miller (new Harley chick) w/sidecar and Mary K!!!

James,

You are never "stepping on the USCA's toes" if you are trying to help a new sidecarist. That said, I don't agree on your choice of mounting but that's a different matter. I know the "universal" clamps will work, I just don't believe that they are a good idea.

We welcome any input that will help bring a new sidecarist to the sport. Bob's BMW is a very good source for sidecar mounting but as you said, maybe not the cheapest.

You guys in Georgia stay safe from Irma.

Thanks Al!

How could I forget about Bob? Geez, he (and a host of others) only rescued me from a blown up final drive at an RA rally a decade or 2 ago...there was a hurricane with that one come to think of it. Then again, it was an RA rally, been hurricanes attending several of those over the years...

Oh, the mount in the pic is horrible, it was the only one on eBay at the moment. Nasty, example only... Sorry about that. That's why I pointed directly to the 3 vendors. Universal is in the eyes of the beholder, I guess. One size fits none, is generally what that means. So some creativity and fabrication is always involved. Mounting a sidecar is an art, not a science, even though you need a little of each to do it right. 3 of mine are OEM rigs these days. Then there is my old HD/Watsonian...

Tina, we sidecar folks are a chatty group. Just wait until you go to a sidecar function. Get in touch with the state sidecar club or any of the folks you've been pointed too. You'll be riding in no time. Well some time after Irma goes away... I'll bug you about the Ride For Kids later - they love sidears.... 😉

He volunteered during the Corning rally and sounds like he would like to be useful.
