The β23 Wing is a non-tour DCT. Β Iβve mounted a Shad trunk and itβs got an Ultimate seat. Β Iβve also had a few aftermarket lights added to the back of the bike.

Agree with Miles.Β These are great questions, that others in the future may benefit from your thoughts as well as the responses from others.Β I've found if something is difficult to access, it doesn't get used as much as it should.Β Eventually it gets sold, no matter how much it is liked.
The carport idea is a good one.Β Then you can turn the shed into a roll-off roof astronomy observatory.Β The roll-off portion would make a nice frame for the carport with a lower roof section that the observatory roof slides over.Β Now you've got two expensive hobbies that are easy to access.Β 😎Β
Let me know if you need help spending your money on astronomy gear! 👍Β

Ah, ah, ah......I am not sure we can beΒ friendsΒ anymore.....with youΒ having aΒ "Ultimate " seat on yourΒ otherwiseΒ great bike.Β
Did youΒ experienceΒ a horrificΒ accidentΒ years earlierΒ thatΒ left youΒ horriblyΒ disfigured,Β and left with no feelingsΒ in yourΒ glutealΒ region ?
Please....no picturesΒ

Thanks for the idea Sheath, but not sure I can get into astronomy - I'm lucky to find the north star!
Miles - it's my first Ultimate seat and I couldn't be happier - I've tried a few Corbin's and have had a couple RDL's as well - love the RDLs but decided to try the Ultimate.Β And, I will tell you I was a bit nervous about it, but it's been great so far - haven't done any Iron Butt rides with it, but have been able to do a couple 600 mile days with no issues.Β And, it's sooo perty!!
Miles - we should talk about the Gen 3 Dream.Β Since I actually got up the nerve to ask you all about the Gen 3 Dream, I've actually been feeling really good about that idea, which tells me that it is probably the way to go.Β As you can tell from when this post started, I've been trying to think through all my options and this one feels right.

Mike, here is my email: midliferider@aol.comΒ
And, sorryΒ to hear that youΒ bumped yourΒ head so badlyΒ in thatΒ horrificΒ accident thatΒ it caused you toΒ buy an "UltimateΒ seat"

Messier "looked" for things in the sky.Β We simply pick something from his catalog, push a button and the telescope finds it.Β Then a robotic voice tells us all about what we are looking at, while we kick back in heated gear with a hot drink and plenty of astro snacks. 😎Β If we are motivated we might change an eye piece.Β If we are super motivated we might spend two or more days attempting to take a picture of something that we could have found in Hubble catalog. 🤔Β

I'm digging the idea of adding a sidecar to your current Wing.Β But only if we get a play by play analysis with plenty of pictures.Β Since I'm not doing the work, you'll be like the Messier of sidecar action. 🍻Β

Posted by: @bannerguySo, I'm thinking of taking Miles up on his earlier suggestion and contacting Hannigan to talk to them about a Gen 3 Dream Sidecar for my '23 Wing.Β

This sounds like a great idea. I will say every once in a while I miss a two wheeler. Maybe consider something small for the garage like a Vespa!

Or.....a 2015 - 2017 Honda CTX-700 w/DCT transmissionΒ
Same price as a Vespa, but has a 671cc parallel twin engine, and DCT transmissionΒ

I respect your fealty to Honda but a CTX is no Vespa.Β Sometimes it's not the numbers on paper but how it makes you feel.

I will definitely try to keep the board updated with progress - right now I'm just trying to get my thoughts together on contacting Hannigan.

Certainly appreciate this thought, but for now, I have to concentrate on getting the sidecar rig built and then we'll see where things go...
Thanks!

Drew, I don't believe I have an actual "fealty" to any one brand. I have owned almost every brand made in the past 80 years, but not all brands. For some odd reason that I have not been able to discern, I have not owned a Kawasaki.
When I was much younger, I had no hesitation at all in wrenching on my motorcycles, all day and night. I loved it. Example, my first BIG bike was a brand new 1974 Norton 850 Commando, ordered by me at the dealership, and paid for in full, and I was all of 19 years old, when it arrived in late 1973.
Many, many Nortons, Triumphs, Ariels, Vincents, H-D's, BMWs, etc, etc, etc over the years.
As I have gotten older, and found that I like riding more than wrenching on the bikes, I have gravitated toward more reliable motorcycles, hence my like of the Honda products. When I do a repair, or maintenance on one of my motorcycles, I want to do it ONE time, and know, for a fact, that it will not fail on me, when riding coast to coast, or Seattle to Prudhoe Bay, to Tierra del Fuego, and back to Seattle.
I gave up all my 2 wheeled motorcycles a few years ago...found that I missed having a 2 wheeled bike, so elected to get one that is much lighter than all my Goldwings, yet still offered a DCT trans. I too have owned "scooters", and loved them. Wife and I both had 2005 Honda Helix 250 scooters, and loved them. But there are limitations with scooters, so if I want to ride out to the coast, cruise around Mount Rainier, then the Honda CTX-700-DCT is the bike to have. It is very flickable in curves, lightweight, has an almost identical engine as the Burgman 650 (which I have also owned)
I salute your Vespa, but short of raising my house due to flood precautions, I will stick with the Honda CTX-700-DCT.
Mike @bannerguy, my experience at Hannigan was to ride out to them in May 2022, place my order for the Dream sidecar, ride back home to Western Washington. Four months later, they "said" they were ready for me, so I rode back out to Kentucky (after doing a full prep on my bike to be ready for the sidecar) then spent 5 days/nights in Murray, Kentucky whilst the yahoos at Hannigan did the final building of the Dream sidecar, the painting, the wheels, etc....and attaching it to my bike.
In all fairness, they did lend me their very used Toyota Camry for those 5 days (I think I returned it to them in better condition than what they handed it to me), and in all fairness they did a pretty good job of attaching the sidecar to my bike. Not perfect...but that is what I am here for, as I make their pretty good job into perfection once in my own shop.
Β
Point is, plan on 4 to 5 months from time of order, until time of attached to your bike, but they only need your bike for the last 4 to 5 days of that.

I have liked all my Honda's but one.Β A 2001 CR250.Β It was a vile vibrating beast, and it didn't take any time to figure out why Honda was pushing the 20" front wheel, even though the tire would roll over and create a vague feeling.Β Terrible chassis, putrid engine with no low end grunt.Β Great brakes & clutch though (clutch had to be abused a lot to go fast and stood up to that abuse pretty well).Β That pile of red feces pretty much ended my racing fun by '03.Β Interestingly, a friend bought the bike from me to trail ride (against my advice), and loved it.

I do admit to having somewhat of a fealty to Honda.Β My first bike was a Honda 450 in 1973 and I've loved Honda's since then.Β We have two Honda vehicles - I have a Ridgeline and wife has a Fit.Β The only non-Honda bike I've every had was the Suzuki Burgman which was great fun.
