New member in Phoenix
Hi all.
I’m Cory, currently live in the Phoenix area and ride a ‘21 Gear Up. I joined the forum because I’m in the research phase of building out an Africa Twin rig for long-distance travel and this seems like a great resource. In fact, I see there are at least a couple other Phoenix-area folks who specifically have AT rigs, so I’d certainly love to meet them and learn what I can.
I wanted to attach some pictures of my rig, but it looks like I need to make some more posts first, so I’ll get right on that.
Welcome Cory! Flyin-Monkeys here has a build in progress of an AT DCT rig that might be of interest to you. Couple more posts and you can add photos to show us all some of your favorite things!
ETA: looks like you already found his build thread. Careful! FM is planning for dealing with bears in AK with that rig and my guess is that he is preparing physically for such encounters! In any case, you have good taste!

Welcome to the Valley of the Sun....you should check with Ben Franklin within this forum ( https://sidecar.com/forum/general-discussion-general-discussion/more-africa-twin-foolishness/) he has an AT and lives in Maricopa. I have a Ural (in Scottsdale).
@prmurat1 I knew I'd fund some other Phoenicians here. Do you happen to know anyone in the valley who could put a clutch in a Gear Up, other than the big dealer?
@ckaseman I must admit I do not!!! There was a nice guy at GOAZ Scottsdale but he is gone now.... If it is not too far away you could try Kaleber in Prescott, he knows his Ural! https://www.kalabercreations.com/
I use a lot 2 Guyes Garage in Gilbert: they are really good but I do not know if they like Urals or not!!
I you need my trailer to move your rig let me know!!
That’s very generous of you! I may actually take you up on that if I wind up taking it to Kalaber. Unfortunately they may not be taking on new work at the moment. Still waiting to hear back from them. After some bad experiences with goAZ I definitely don’t consider them to be an option. I think the only other “official” Ural shop in AZ is down in Tucson, but I’ve never dealt with them so I don’t know.
Cory @ckaseman, apparently you haven't seen my post where I gave you my email address, and said we could talk about my Africa Twin w/DCT cargo box sidecar rig off the forums.
Send me an email, if you want. midliferider@aol.com

It's a tough life, but someone has to do it.... and post pictures... 😉
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃
Cory, that's the best looking Ural rig I have ever seen. Nicely equipped for the terrain you traverse.

Hay Cory welcome to the nut house. i am just a plain old Wing rider here =) My instant thought when seeing your rig, it needs a machine gun mounted on the front to deal with the ornery critters. OOPS response from Miles coming right up!

@ckaseman hey Cory, welcome!
If you want to test ride an Africa Twin hack rig, it could be arranged.
What side of town are you on?
@ben-franklin I’d love to check it out actually. Especially if it’s a DCT, since I have experience with those. I’m in Mesa.
