The membership application we are using just posted a new version with some new features. One of the features is called a 'magic link'. If you can't remember your password you can click on the "Email Me a Login Link". It will send an email to the address for your account (the account must exist and be related specifically to that email address). You will get an email in a few seconds and when you click on the link in the email it will open a new tab and you will be logged in.
One of the greatest frustrations of people is they can't keep track of their passwords. And, as many of you know, if you try to guess at your password and fail more than 2 or 3 times the server will lock you out. This is to protect the server and all of us from hackers guessing many passwords trying to break into people's accounts. The lockout is for 20 minutes in which most hackers will give up and move on. But a lot of people don't know that and email me about it.
With this feature you won't have to remember your password. BUT, you do have to use the correct email (some people have several). It also works with just your username.
Test it out the next time you log in, it's a nice feature to have!
