Rally Time is almost here...less than a week to go. Weather is predicted to be near perfect with the daily high expected to be around 75° and with low humidity. Penny and I wrapped-up all major details today. We are looking forward to meeting old sidecaring friends, and making new ones. Next week we will be on both local radio and we will be interviewd on local TV to additionaly publicize the Rally and to invite the Public to the Sidecar Games and Show'n Shine at the local airport on Saturday morning. This will be a very memorable Rally; and we hope that you will all enjoy the many things to see and do here at Lake Tahoe. If you are a last-minute person who has not already registered.....and you intend to stay at Camp Richardson... we suggest you do not wait, and reserve with them immediately.(800) 544-1801 or (530) 541-1801. c-ya here,Bob & Penny
Just home from the Rally! We had 247 registtered and a lot of lookers. I did an interview with the local paper and it made front page with pictures. A huge thank you to Bum and Penny, Tom Hansen, Norbert Monohan, and Linda Foster and their families who did a huge amount of work to pull everything off. We just couldn't have had better weather or a more enthusastic crowd. I was able to put a lot of names with faces, now if my crs doesn't kick in I'll be able to know people when they post.
Again Thanks to all and the 31st Rally is now on the books as a very good one.

The 2009 Rally is now history. Penny and I, with the help of WONDERFUL volunteers...((and in particular Tom and Anita Hansen and the Monohan "family", who were hardly just Volunteers)).....well, we managed to pull off a good one. The Weather cooperated too.We set out the muffins, coffee, cookies, etc., this morning, and managed to sell the last few shirts, some mugs, whatever...AND, not hardly much was left after the wild free-for-all of the White Elephants last evening. We did not do a finally tally ourselves....Joyce's number (247) seems correct to what I remember. We have left-over food to go to a charity, and 50-50 money to also go to a charity. I think it will take another several days (at leat for me) to fully recover...I was so bushed this afternoon that I had to take a 3 hour nap. In the near future we will have what photos I took, and from others too, I suspect, sent to The Sidecarist for a Rally Coverage article. We heard a lot of very favorable comments on this rally (made my head swell...and it was already swollen). That's it for right now, just a quickie update.Snowbum

Oh yeah, I even saw a bear.
Really nice photos! Thanks for posting them.
Just got in last night. 705 miles on Sunday, 910 miles yesterday (monday) almost went on to Lawrence to make it a 1000 but just went home instead. (already did that a few times before they gave out the T-shirt) What a great event! Very well run, wonderful volunteers, great location, and fun attendees.
Thanks Bob and Penny. You moved the bar with this one!

Good mileage...I won't do that many in a day anymore, not even on two wheels. Penny complains if we get near 400 these days.Glad you enjoyed the Rally, and we were very happy you came....and appreciate your help. And, thanks...!'bum
Hi Joyce, Your link to the photos now says there is nothing there. Not sure what happened, I looked at them last night. Thanks,Santa Ron
The album is public again. Don't know exactly what happened.

Thanks for posting the photos, especially from those of us unable to attend the 2009 Rally.

You mean you folks are home already? After the rally, I headed up the CA coast to Oregon, then east through ID to Grand Teton & Yellowstone, up Paradise Valley to Livingston, MT. About 4,500 miles so far and still a long way home to MI. Great rally! My thanks to all those responsible.
Wow! Now that's the right way to do a rally. I think the journey should be the best part of any trip. Yours sounds great. So far, what's your favorite part? Your adventure sounds like a perfect article for submitting to The Sidecarist newsletter. Hope to hear more.
Ride safe,
gail
The best parts (of many great ones) were the Oregon coast & the ride from Jackson Hole up through Gd. Teton, Yellowstone & Paradise Valley, MT. Spectacular. I may consider an article. Been keeping a journal.
We agree its the ride for sure. We rode up from Arizona. The ride was a lot nicer than the rally i must say.I never try to be neg about things but WOW we where extremely disappointed in the Tahoe Rally 2009.
Jeez - had a really nice response written up, but am afraid my connection timed out or something, and it was lost to the innerwebz...
Bottom Line Up Front: Sorry you didn't have a good time at the rally - I sure as hell did. Couldn't let yours be the last post in the thread when I feel kudo's are in order for Bob, Penny, and all the folks that made it happen.
Hope you have fun somewhere's along the line.
