Duncan:
Check with Mikel and Bellinda to see if they have already contacted MOA. Even if they did there is no guarantee that it will get in the MOA mag. It took us several tries to get their attention. I would bet that Mikel and Bellinda would appreciate any help you can provide to get MOA's attention. (What is the UNODIR principle?)

Duncan,
We have not contacted MOA or any other organizations yet. If you could do the contacting, that would be great. When you do, if you could keep us posted with whom you have contacted it would be appreciated so we don't duplicate. If you need information, files, pictures, etc. let us know.

Thanks,

Will.

Do you have an email for Mikel and/or Melinda? You - or one of them - can PM it to me. BMWMOA requires an email address for a point of contact. I hope they [ Mikel and Belinda] are monitoring this thread and would tell me to sit down and be quiet if they had already contacted MOA. But for that the form would already be submitted.

I guess I could use president at sidecar.com

Re UNODIR: An acronym for UNlessOtherwiseDIRected - it's how a lot of things get done in the Navy: "UNODIR I'm going to sail due east dropping depth charges until I see an oil slick" It lets higher command know what you're going to do unless they say no. It avoids a lot of "mother may I" nonsense. And requires higher-ups to pay attention and read their mail.

Just registered double occupancy at Rising Star Casino Resort for 3-nites, for 2018 Rising Sun Rally - after much motel/hotel searching within 20 miles. By booking via "Hotwire" (www.hotwire.com) I saved a few bucks with a rate of $88 per night, plus $20 per nite taxes - plus another $5 per nite for cancellation insurance...Total $113 per nite, no free breakfast, but restaurants available. Ride Safely, or as Roger Hull always said, "Ride Sagely".

I've never been to the Rally and may not be able to make all days.
I'm curious when the agenda comes out?

Motorrader,
So Sorry to hear you had such a hassle with making reservations at Rising Star Casino. After reading your message I called the Casino to verify our rates and they had us under the wrong rates. That has now been corrected. Thursday night is $69, Friday & Saturday nights are $99 for an average of $89 per night plus taxes. Also they have little perks with our reservations.

Just for anyone else who have already made reservations with Rising Star Casino, your rates have been adjusted to the lower group rate.

Thanks for bring this to my attention.

made my reservations ...so now I am looking for anybody that is going north from Florida or any state in between...will make route plans as the group forms ... it is just under 1000 miles for me if I go up RT.75
but I do not need to make a interstate run ....thinking on a 2 or 3 day ride on secondary roads...but that will be up to the group if anybody wants to join me to make a group ...lets start planing ...

I’m not sure we’ll be able to attend from beginning to end (Thursday thru Saturday night). Does anyone have an agenda/schedule of events?

Just an update...We have added 3 fun guided group tours, to the Rally. All of the tours will leave from the pavilion and transportation on the tours is provided. All will be offered free to those attending the rally. The first is a Ghost-Historic Tour of some the history of Rising Sun which may include topics of legends, civil war, or the underground railroad. It is offered Thursday evening, so get to the rally early. The other 2 will be offered at 10am on Friday & Saturday and will be a tour of the Red Wolf Sanctuary where you will get to hear about the efforts to rescue and rehabilitate wild animals from bears to eagles.

These are in addition to the regular rally events.

As of 4-24-18 The Courtyard (812-438-4035) still had rooms available, the Lodge at Rising Star Casino (812-438-1234) has availability in our block of rooms, and Little Farm has plenty of camping spaces open (812-438-4500).

Hope to see you there.
